We would like to stay in NYC during an Oct weekend (not Columbus Day), Saturday through Monday. What is a good bidding strategy for a 4.5*-5* hotel in or around TS? We would like to stay fairly close (Central Park South, Midtown East, Midtown Central). Looking to spend no more than $250/night. Is that possible? Or do we need to move down to a 4*? All advice welcome!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Any Sat-Mon in October is acceptable except for 10/12-10/14? You may be successful in one of the zones you listed near the very top end of your budget... or you could likely get a 4.5*-5* well within your budget if you also include Downtown in your bidding.

Are you ready to start bidding now?

Let us know how you'd like to move forward and we'll take it from there.

Yes - any Sat. through Mon. except Columbus Day will work. Not really interested in Downtown - want to be closer to TS than that. in other words, would rather have a 4* where the action is than a 5* far away. Thanks! Ready to start bidding...and using your link!

As noted, it's worth a shot, but it think your chances are less than 50/50. You could try the 5* bidding for each of your dates and then if rejected try the same strategy at the 4.5* level... but if you'd rather not take the time you can simply begin with 4.5* bidding.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

The price required is somewhere between your last failed bid and the counter-offer. You can definitely try to wait it out a bit, but do note that - at least traditionally - this is an expensive period.
