Priceline Hotel: Strategy for Golden Nugget 10/11-13

The Golden Nugget is easy to identify on both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE as it's currently the only 4 Star downtown/Fremont Street. So far I've bid up to $86 and been rejected. IMO, that's high for the property and downtown. Should I sit on it for a little while as it's still so far out that prices might be high?

It is the only 4* that has been reported to the board in this zone - but there is always at least a slight chance that something new could appear and/or the rating could change on a previously reported hotel. There is also the possibility that a hotel may not offer discounted inventory for a set of date/s.

What would be your desired budget per night for this stay and are you seeing anything of interest on HOTWIRE?

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I definitely want $100 or under and right now HOTWIRE is about $137 for this property. Also, I know that there's always a chance that something could change on star ratings, but knowing downtown, I don't see that as likely in the near term. Normally we'd stay on the strip but my husband has business downtown and my daughter wants to swim at the shark tank pool at the Golden Nugget.

Just like the Strip hotels, Downtown can get more expensive on the weekends... hotel direct rates for your dates are $154/nite, so a 45% discount may just not be in the cards at this point in time. Currently i think you'll likely need to be closer to the $100-area to be successful on PRICELINE.

I wound up doing something different for this hotel as I bid up to $90 and it wasn't accepted. On Expedia there was a $149 rate for one night and $159 for the second night. I had previously purchased Expedia $50 off coupons 3 for $50. You can only use one per reservation so I made two separate reservations. If I'm going to be paying $100 a night I might as well ensure I'm getting the property I want with cancellation.
