Trying to book 9/15-9/21 within walking distance to MGH. I think this might be a safe bet? Any advice on how I should proceed with this? This is my first time using PRICELINE. I would like to hopefully get the Onyx 4* or Liberty 4.5* since both are very close and I believe should be within walking distance? Correct me if I'm wrong. I am hoping to spend about 200/night if possible.. or is this too optimistic? Thanks for any advice

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

On PRICELINE the Beacon Hill zone is just over a half mile wide, so as long as you are fine walking up to a half mile, then this should get you closer to your desired location.

If this is too variable you can try entered the address of the hospital into our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com which will show you all the hotels in the area with an interface that makes it easy to see rates in the area as well as how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating OR to stay further/closer from your ideal location.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there (but early indications show that this may be a tough win at $200 or less, we can certainly try if that is how you decide you'd like to proceed, but i would at least start to think about whether you would want to increase your bid, lower your star rating, SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, or stay nearby and take a taxi/train to the hospital when needed)

Sorry about the delay now that I have the plan finalized I would like to try bidding. I am thinking of trying first with the 4.5 star which I believe is the Liberty hotel. What do you recommend as my starting bid?

So it looks like I would do beacon hill then bid and if rejected then add some of the other areas with no 4.5 star hotels?

Should I start around 150 or is that a wasted bid?

At current rates I don't think that $200 will be successful for a 4.5* property in the Beacon Hill zone, but if you want to give it a try...

When bidding 4.5* in Boston you have TEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4.5* Beacon Hill...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Do you think I would be successful with trying to get the 4* onyx? How would you recommend I try to get that?
You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select. Beacon Hill also got 4* bidding so you can get an upgrade to 4.5*
