Can anyone please help ID the following at $230/nt on Hotwire. Thanks in advance. May not book

via Hotwire because of no guarantee for two beds, but if I do will use the link.

100% Guest Recommended in Hotwire Reviews, and that's why I can't figure it out.

This property has not yet been reported to the board, but if you change your search to 2adults/2children a new 3* hotel is offered in this zone with:

Complimentary Breakfast

Free Internet

Smoke Free

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Laundry

Hi-Speed Internet

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Best guess for this property would be the Park South Hotel. By searching for 2adults/2children you ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you included in your search, but the second 'bed' could be a rollawy brought into the room, a pullout sofabed, etc. (NOTE you don't say if you are two people who don't want to sleep in the same bed or if you need quad occupancy... if 2adults/2children the price i'm seeing for this property is $259/nite, if searching 4adults the same hotel appears but the price goes up to $298/nite)

Thank you for your help. We're just two adults, but I'm traveling with an elderly relative.

Don't want to put two children on the booking if that's not true.

We might just book directly with the newer Holiday Inn Express Herald Square or

Best Western Premier Herald Square. It doesn't appear either of those have any attractive offers

as they are all around $350-400 per night including taxes, but at least we could guarantee two beds.

Ideal budget is no more than $250 per night pre-tax, or just under $300/night including tax.

Thanks again. We will do more research before deciding.

If you enter in 3 adults on HOTWIRE, are there any listings of interest? 3 adults will likely result in higher rates due to less hotels willing to offer more than double occupancy on HOTWIRE and extra person fees (which you will likely see during checkout if you book 3 people regular rate) being added in.

The HOTWIRE review % is not an indicator of a particular property, given that there is no way to find the current HOTWIRE user rating.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

There is no harm in doing this... it could be an issue if you book for two people and show up with four, but booking for four and showing up with two is not a problem. (at the last minute you got somebody to watch the kids as they didn't want to come anyway ;) )

$350/nite is a LOT for a HI Express or Best Western hotel room, but ultimately it's your decision. If you do book direct, please check for and use the links in our Support Page where we have links to both Holiday Inn Express and the Best Western.

Thank you for the advice. While I've been to NYC a few times, my aunt has not. In the past,

have usually stayed in Midtown East/Grand Central or Chelsea/Empire State Building area. However,

just earlier this year we received numerous bed bug bites at one of the Kimpton hotels during our

stay in Manhattan, hence this time am leaning toward one of the newer hotels, though that doesn't

guarantee there won't be bed bugs either. We don't need luxury, just a clean, conveniently

located place to stay. Didn't know that so many new, renovated hotels popped up around Herald Square (Springhill,

HI Express, and the Best Western) this year.

I wouldn't normally want to pay over $300 for a HI Express or Best Western (shows my age when we used to pay

under $200 per night for the Grand Hyatt by Grand Central), but I have to be realistic

with the going rates for early October peak season period. I haven't found a backup hotel to reserve just yet,

and I'm not that keen on the potential Park South Hotel deal via Hotwire ($265/night for 2 adults and 2 children).

The Comfort Inn Times Square West has a special advanced booking rate of about $225/night pre-tax. Would you

recommend that rate and hotel? I'm wary that in 2009-2010 there were several bed bug reports for that hotel, but

honestly, for the location and price, I just might book that and stop waiting for a deal to arise...and make

an extra thorough inspection if we do go there.

Alternatively, I was even considering staying by Wall Street or even the Comfort Inn Manhattan Bridge or

Best Western Bowery, but I worry about the location in both cases as too far from our primary excursion plans

(a play, Central Park, museum mile, etc). My 70+ year old aunt is mobile, but I think staying by ESB/Herald Square,

Midtown, Chelsea, or by MSG Penn Station would be best.

Thanks for your input. Also, I'll click the Comfort Inn direct link if we do book with that hotel. Just wary about

the cleanliness part. Oh, in case you're all wondering, this is sort of a last minute vacation plan, hence the

rushed planning for a hotel that hopefully will be of a good value.

If it is your aunt's first time in NYC i would try to stay someplace near midtown.

While unfortunate about your bed bug issue, i think it could happen at just about any NYC hotel, but less likely at the higher end properties which (im my experience) often tend to have better housekeeping, oversight, and correcting issues if/when they do occur. A lower end property may wait for a few reports of bed bugs before having the pest man come and inspect, whereas higher rated properties (and especially those with corporate/chain/brand name backing) are more quickly to call somebody in upon the first report of trouble.

I'm not really sure what direction you want to go with this, as i believe your biggest obstacle is the want for two beds... that only really leaving searching HOTWIRE for triple/quad occupancy... or using PRICELINE EXPRESS where the 'Bed Choice' option is shown.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. (and the link in our Support Page if you decide to book direct)
