Hello,

It is my fisrt time here on betterbidding.com and I need help to get a good deal on 3*+ hotels in Long Island (New York #8 area) from 07-jan-2014 to 11-jan-2014. The 3,5* hotel is the Z NYC (it is a good hotel for me). My max bid is $100.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

Few items/questions to cover...

I assume you are looking to bid Long Island City (which is a different area than Long Island, which is further east of Manhattan).

While the Z Hotel may be the only 3.5* hotel reported to the board in this zone, there could always be others, and you're not able to bid on a specific hotel, only the minimum star rating and a predefined zone... are you willing to accept any hotel in th zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select?

If you're trying to target the Z Hotel, which is 3.5* rated by PRICELINE, why are you looking to bid 3 stars?

This is generally a slow time of year in NYC and i think you can likely get something in Manhattan for under $100/nite... would you prefer to stay in Manhattan at a $100 or less bid OR d you prefer to stay in the LIC zone?

Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there.

I prefer to stay in Manhattan, but the LIC zone is cheaper than Manhattan... I know I can only bid the stars rating and zones. Yesterday night I've placed bid until $85 for a 3* in LIC and have not been accepted.

I have found in HOTWIRE a hotel in Central Park West zone for $83, it could be the Belleclair... But I`m going to travel with more 3 people, and we need a room for 4. How can I bid an 4 people room in PRICELINE?

PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request (this is especially true in the NYC area).

If this is not a risk you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. If/when you make a purchase and use the EDIT TO REPORT WIN button on the lower right corner of the board the thread will automatically be moved (if necessary) to the correct section of the board.

Please also use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for all your bidding, searches, and travel purchases... click each of these previous links and reply to this thread, we'll then have a look at the HOTWIRE offer above.

Thanks.

The Holiday Inn New York City Manhattan East would be my best guess for this one.

I'll also add that for a few dollars more at $133/nite for 4 adults i see what i believe to be the 4* rated Roosevelt hotel in midtown. It's not as well reviewed, but it is higher rated, and for more the selling point would be the midtown location (vs. the one you have asked about above), unless of course you have reason to be Downtown.
