feliciash Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 Hello all. I'll try and make a long story short. I started my bid at 170 for the Midtown East zone and was rejected until I kept adding zones that did not include 4 1/2 star hotels until my bid of $178.00 was accepted. I made this bid for only 1 night until I saw the hotel. My plan was to add additional nights at the same rate if i was pleased with the hotel Priceline chose. I could not extend at that price but could add one more night for $232.00 so i did. My trip is for 5 days so I needed to add 3 more nights. I changed my dates and started again at $170 and conitnued to add zones until my bid of $180.00 was accepted. Again, I tried to add additional nights at the same rate but there was no availability at that rate. To sum this up I have managed to get 3 nights at the New York Palace for a total of $733.27 (taxes and fees included). I plan on continuing to bid and hopefully get this same hotel for 2 more days. I already have another refundable hotel booked (the Benjamin) in case that doesnt work out. I am THRILLED with my win so far.
thereuare Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you're pleased with the results so far.My guess is that your luck may have run out and the next hotel you win will likely be at a different hotel. The fact that you were able to extend one reservation, and not extend another reservation, is indicative that PRICELINE likely doesn't have any inventory at this property for your additional dates. Unless you're willing to change hotels each of the remaining nites of your trip, i would recommend bidding both nites together, as bidding them separately you could win one nite and then not be able to extend the stay (or win the same hotel again) for the additional nite, which would require you to change hotels each of the last 2 nites of your trip.Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
