Priceline Hotel: Bidding Help NYC 10/26-10/28

I usually book a hotel in NJ when I travel to NYC to avoid driving into the city and keep the cost down. This fall, however, we are flying in and we have minimal time. So, we want to stay in Manhattan, preferably Midtown. I have always been reluctant to bid in NYC proper because there are SO many choices to navigate. I have spent a lot of time investigating and I am just about ready to take the plunge, but I have one final concern. Since I cannot specify bed type is there any risk that I could end up with two twin beds in a 4 star or 3.5 star property. I am hoping on the higher end that the 2 twin supply goes away. Although I prefer a King, I can live with 1 queen or 2 queens, but NOT 2 twins! Any advice?

Two twins (or two beds in general) is highly unlikely, given that most rooms in NYC are on the smaller side and two beds - when available - often goes for a premium.

This period is - unfortunately - a very busy one in NYC. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay and which zone/s would be acceptable?

Thanks for the info. I only need one bed. I just want to be sure I don't get stuck with twins or a bunk. I spent some more time looking at the actual room selection on priceline for the zone and star level and I didn't see any twins, so I think I will be okay. I was hoping to find something at $200 or below, but most of the listings for that weekend are in the $275-$375 range. It looks like the Marriott Midtown East is available for $216 non-refundable without bidding, so that is a possibility, but I will probably go ahead and give the bidding a try. I see lots of posts for $140-$170 but those are probably summer versus fall rates? I didn't pay attention to dates when I looked through the first time.

Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip?

Which zones, by PRICELINE name, are you willing to accept?

Let us know the information above and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.
