RedRX Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 Hello all, I'm planning to travel to La Jolla on over the weekend of 9/12 - 9/15 and have been watching Hotwire for a couple of weeks. I read elsewhere that it's generally best (i.e., the prices are the lowest) to book a trip perhaps a week or two prior to arrival, yet as I've been watching these dates, the prices continue to rise. In fact, there was a significant increase today, almost across the board.Does anyone here know if it's in fact best to wait to book my stay, or in general, will prices only continue to rise as my travel date approaches? If the rule is that they will continue to rise, I'll book ASAP.Thanks for your help.
AaronJB Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. The idea that the best deals are at the last minute (last couple of weeks) is sometimes successful, but not always the case. This is discussed in detail in the FAQ.However, I'll note that rates improving at the last minute has been seen less and less in the last few years as rates/demand overall have been increasing y/o/y.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
