Cocacola_ Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Hi all,Just got familiar with Priceline and really like it but I need some help, see my bids below and perhaps you guys can help me out. Started out very very lowball and afterwards too fast up, like a real rookie :)All bids were 4 star:50 USD #16 Times Square, all bids were rejected100 USD #16 and #12 Midtown West105 USD #16, #12 and #2 Central Park South140 USD #16, #12, #2 and #18 Upper West Side175 USD #16, #12, #2, #18 and #11 Midtown EastI've noticed there are a lot of 3 star hotels that are more than acceptable, for 4 star ones the retail prices start at 400? The time of year is also quite expensive I've noticed.Dates are set, 3 star hotel is acceptable (haven't seen any dumpholes lol), what's best to do? Will continu bidding in a few hours... kind of addicting haha! Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Excluding any special events, from a seasonal perspective, the weekend above is one of the busiest of year as it's one of the last shopping weekends before Christmas and droves of people come to the city to shop and see the window displays. Not sure if your plans are flexible or not, but if you can come to the city two weeks later you'll see substantially cheaper prices. If not, if you're willing to accept any 4* hotel in midtown you're likely looking at ~$225-$250 at the present time... if you're willing to stay downtown you may be able to get something in the $160-$180 area.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.PS- as i'm sure you likely now know, i'd suggest waiting for a bidding strategy to follow before bidding again as the way you're bidding risks an overbid in the zones you're adding later in the bidding cycle. Cocacola_ Posted July 30, 2013 Author Report Posted July 30, 2013 Thanks! :) Dates are nonflexible, flights are booked, will be back later on (already booked with Booking haha.. too bad, saw the difference yes) for the second part of the trip.Midtown 3 star would be fine with the new knowledge! Max would be 200 USD so if anyone has some strategies, would be appreciated! Greets from Europe :)
