PandaSF Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 I'm looking to book a 4 1/2* hotel in San Francisco from 8/7 - 8/8. There is a hotel listed in the Financial district (Omni?) for $244 in their express deals, so I was thinking about selecting the Financial District and starting my bidding around $200. I don't have a preference for which area we stay in, so can someone recommend a better bidding strategy?
thereuare Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you're flexible on the zones that you're willing to accept, it would be in your interest to include all acceptable zones in your bidding so that it gives more hotels the opportunity to accept your bid (which in turn translates to the best/lowest price avaialble)Popular zones in addition to the Financial District include USE, USW, and Fisherman's Wharf (this last zone is a bit touristy which may be a plus/con depending upon your perspective)Let us know if there are other zones you wish to include in your bidding and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. PandaSF Posted July 30, 2013 Author Report Posted July 30, 2013 I'm willing to include USE, USW, and Fisherman's Wharf. Given this, what bidding strategy would you recommend? Thanks.

PandaSF Posted July 31, 2013 Author Report Posted July 31, 2013 Thanks for the advice. I decided to start my bidding at $150 and quickly went up to $200 at which point Priceline offered to resubmit my bid for $66 more automatically. I tried again at $210, and they offered to resubmit my bid for $56 more. I tried $220, and they offered to resubmit for $46 more. Instead of sticking to my $225 limit, I went for $230 and the offer was taken. I got the Omni. I'm pretty sure the Express Deal was offering the Omni for $244, so I guess I saved myself $14 and got an education on Priceline in the meantime. Thanks for the help.
