Calgary Caliope Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Hi,I've put in a few bids on PriceLine for the Chelsea, ESB, MSG areas, between $150 - $200/night, for a 3.5* - 4* with no success. What is the best strategy for me to use to get the best deal? Details below:Areas (in order of preference): Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTEDates: October 11/13 - Oct 15.13Star: 4* (unless I can get a 3.5* for a significantly lower price)Max price: $250/night (obviously I would like the lowest possible price)My difficulty has been understanding what range is acceptable for these areas during this time? Any advice would be helpful please.- CC
AaronJB Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. This is traditionally one of the more expensive periods (and the Fall in general is often on the high side) of the year and rates overall have edged higher in the last few years. It's worth trying lower first, but I think a 4* in these zone/s for these date/s is likely going to require around $210-230 (although $205 is worth trying), so while unfortunately a higher bid is going to be required, I don't think you're terribly far off.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Calgary Caliope Posted July 29, 2013 Author Report Posted July 29, 2013 Great, thanks for the quick response. I'll try that range out and perhaps a bit higher and see what happens. Thanks again.
thereuare Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Are you familiar with re-bidding and how to determine your re-bid zones? If not, see this thread, Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding (highly recommended if you're new to the subject)NOTE that in MTE the One UN Plaza has been upgraded to the 4* level and this property can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, is this acceptable? If you'd like help with a bidding strategy please confirm your desired zone(s), star rating, and maximum bid and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
