Charlie V Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Looking for a 3.5-4 star hotel in San Francisco August 9-12. I saw some interesting conversations on this topic.I was unaware that you can make bids on the Hotwire site. I did not say a bid option on the site can someone tell me where to find it?Thanks,-Charlie
thereuare Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! There is no bidding on HOTWIRE (at the present time)If you haven't seen it yet this is a good overview of each service: I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire. For your San Francisco trip above, what is your maximum budget per nite (before fees/taxes)? Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better? Which zone(s) are you willing to accept? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Charlie V Posted July 29, 2013 Author Report Posted July 29, 2013 Thanks,I don't want to be too far out. I'd prefer to keep it ultimately around $200 per night so I guess my goal would be the least expensive 3.5 or better. I saw in a previous post where you mentioned that you saw a special that you though might have been the Hotel Nikko for $175, I'd be perfectly happy with something like that.
thereuare Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.Rates are expensive for your dates and currently i think it may be tough to stay at $200 or under for a 3.5* property, but to begin, which PRICELINE zone(s) are you willing to accept? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Charlie V Posted July 31, 2013 Author Report Posted July 31, 2013 Thank you very much, I will let you know how it goes.
Charlie V Posted July 31, 2013 Author Report Posted July 31, 2013 I went all the way up to $215 but could not close a deal.
thereuare Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Would you go up a few dollars higher for a 4* property?PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel in the USW zone for $235/nite:Indoor or Outdoor Pool Pets Allowed Business Center Fitness Center Using the discount link code in my signature brings for 5% Off brings this down to ~$225/nite... the 5% OFF expires today. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Charlie V Posted August 1, 2013 Author Report Posted August 1, 2013 I didn't see your latest message until this morning. I'm guessing the discount link has expired. I'm thinking about knocking it down to 3* but I would imagine that finding zones that do not offer 3* to add to my re-bids would be more difficult.
thereuare Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 When bidding 3* there is only ONE re-bid zone available, but you could still make it work if you wanted to try 3* bidding.HOTWIRE does have a 3* hotel in the USW zone for $221/nite with:Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower This property has an excellent 4.5/5.0 TA rating and my guess would be that this is the Kensington Park Hotel. You could try bidding on PRICELINE, but in doing so you could receive a different hotel that is not as well reviewed, so you need to decide how high you're willing to bid before a few extra dollars make this 3* offer worthwhile given the 'known' good reviews.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Charlie V Posted August 1, 2013 Author Report Posted August 1, 2013 When I go to PRICELINE hotel areas, Union Square is not split into east and west...when I update the hotel list to three stars it lists only the Hotel Rex, Triton and Villa Florence. Can you tell me where you are seeing the Kensington Park listed?
Charlie V Posted August 1, 2013 Author Report Posted August 1, 2013 I'd probably like to take that 3* in Union Square West but I can't seem to find it.
AaronJB Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 I'm seeing the 3* USW on HOTWIRE for these date/s that is mentioned above, but unfortunately I'm now seeing it showing for $301.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 When I go to PRICELINE hotel areas, Union Square is not split into east and west...When determining your re-bid zones you need to be on the BIDDING section of PRICELINE... NOT the 'retail' section. See the following thread on how to determine your re-bid zones, Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding. If you read the link above and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Charlie V Posted August 2, 2013 Author Report Posted August 2, 2013 I do understand the re-bidding process. I just couldn't find the Kensington Park hotel listed on HOTWIRE and couldn't nail down the location on PRICELINE. If I'm already in the bidding section it doesn't reveal the hotel.
thereuare Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 The Kingston may have not yet been reported to the board thru HOTWIRE, but when we encounter a hotel not yet reported to the board we try to research it further based upon any clues that are offered in the description. In this instance, a 3* hotel in the USW zone was offered at $221/nite, and while it was not yet reported to the board, based upon research my guess was the Kensington Park.Unfortunately this previous HOTWIRE offer is no longer available for your dates above. The first nite of your stay seems a little more expensive than the last two nites (all nites are expensive, but the first nite a bit more pricey than the other two)... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? You may be able to get something for the last 2 nites of your stay in the ~$225 area. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Charlie V Posted August 5, 2013 Author Report Posted August 5, 2013 So now I'm seeing a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal on PRICELINE for Union Square West 3.5* but it has one more night on it than I need.Is there anyway to get around that extra night?
thereuare Posted August 5, 2013 Report Posted August 5, 2013 What do you mean... you see a 3.5* hotel offered for USW when searching for 8/9-8/13 when it doesn't appear when searching 8/9-8/12?If that is the situation, i don't know of any way to get this property to appear for your 3 nite stay, but if cheap enough, you could book the 4 nites and then check-out of the hotel after the 3rd nite. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
