thereuare Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Just beyond your current bidding HOTWIRE has what i believe to be the following:4* ESB zone: King and Grove $226/nite4* TS zone: Millennium Broadway Hotel $236/niteAre either of these of interest? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. douglasduck Posted July 30, 2013 Author Report Posted July 30, 2013 I have seen the HOTWIRE deals but am hesitant to pull the trigger with some of the reviews those hotels recieved.I am trying to explore my options and see if PRICELINE bidding would give me a different hotel around those rates?Any strategies for getting a different hotel using PRICELINE?Thanks,-DouglasDuck
thereuare Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 With PRICELINE there is no way to bid on, or avoid, a specific hotel, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. You could try PRICELINE EXPRESS and choose a hotel with a high user review rating if that gives you more comfort. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. douglasduck Posted July 31, 2013 Author Report Posted July 31, 2013 By different hotel I meant any hotel besides King & Grove or Millennium.Since I am still having no luck, is it suggested to drop the star level down to 3.5*?Is there a pricing strategy for 3.5*?I have tried:$180 for Madison Square GardenRebid with $185 for Madison Square Garden and Central Park South.Since I lowered the stars, what is the expected amount to lower for my bids?Thanks,-DouglasDuck
thereuare Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Which zone(s) are acceptable at the 3.5* level? What is your maximum bid at the 3.5* level?NOTE that the star rating you select is the minimum that you are willing to accept, PRICELINE could always upgrade your bid to a higher rated hotel in one of the zones that you selected. So for example if you don't want a 4* hotel in the ESB zone (such as the King and Grove) then you can't bid 3.5* in the ESB zone since your 3.5* bid could be upgraded to this 4* hotel.ALSO NOTE that at the 3.5* level in the CPS zone is the Hudson hotel, which while well located has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards), this may not be comfortable for a full one week stay... are you sure you want to include this zone in your 3.5* bidding as you have done above? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. douglasduck Posted August 1, 2013 Author Report Posted August 1, 2013 For 3.5* I think the zones that I would want (in order) are:1. Madison Square Garden2. Midtown East3. Midtown WestAt this point (even though it is still early)I am hoping for a max of $200 for 3.5*.Would $200 be even considered for these zones?Thanks,-DouglasDuck
thereuare Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 You can try, but at current rates i suspect that $200 will not be enough... are any other zones acceptable (so that you can bid in more combinations)... Chelsea? Times Square? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
