mzuraw1 Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 I'm new to the site and trying to find the best deal for my Vegas trip from 9-10 to 9-14. I would like to stay at a 4* somewhere on the strip. My 1st choice for hotel is Treasure Island and Mandalay Bay, however, if I can't get it at the price I want then I am open to other 4* resorts. I would like to spend no more then $65-$70 per night. Using the Priceline and HOTWIRE links on the site, I found the following Express Deal on Priceline:$97 per nightIndoor or Outdoor PoolFree ParkingRestaurantBusiness CenterCasinoFitness Center$28/day resort fee7.0 out of 10.00 rating. I'm guessing this is TI, but can't be certain. The price is more then I want to pay so I want to try bidding. With this in mind, can I get a few tips with bidding on Priceline? I already read the Re-Bidding page and I understand that. Do you think that I can get what I'm looking for in my price range?
AaronJB Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding.Just to confirm - what zone is the Express Deals listing in?Additionally:I'm guessing this is TI, but can't be certain. The price is more then I want to pay so I want to try bidding. The PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals side of the service is different from the bidding side and IDing a hotel on the Express Deals side does not necessarily mean that it will be the hotel you get if you win on the bidding side. On bidding, $65-70 for a 4* is worth trying - and you can start lower than that and work up to that level - but I think it may quite possibly take a bit higher than that.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mzuraw1 Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 The Express listing was on Strip North on priceline. Do you think that I would be able to get a 4* on the strip in my price range during my dates? Thanks again for all the help
yellowdog Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 mzuraw1Do you think that I would be able to get a 4* on the strip in my price range during my dates? It's always hard to answer questions like this since we don't know what it takes. But my guess is that you're looking at around $80 for your dates in the North zone. So it's not that far from your budget. Let us know how we can help you further with your stay,Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog.
mzuraw1 Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 I found the following 4* Hotel on HOTWIRE in the Near the Strip South area for $51 per night. This Hotel features the following amenities:Free Parking Casino Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower It has a 90% rating. Any idea what hotel this is?
yellowdog Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 Best guess would be a new amenity set for South Point Hotel. Please remember to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board and let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help with this stay.Yellowdog.
mzuraw1 Posted July 29, 2013 Author Report Posted July 29, 2013 Well, I tried bidding and failed. First, I did Strip North, then Strip South and finally both together. My highest bid was $70/night and was not accepted. I really don't want to spend more then that. I was thinking of changing the dates to 9/10 to 9/13 for the 4* and then 9/13 to 9/14 at a cheap off-strip hotel. This should bring down the cost of the 4* hotel. I'll try bidding again tomorrow using these dates and will report back.

Romelle Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Your strategy of bidding the 3 week nights on strip, and then going off strip for the weekend night definitely has a chance. While the hotels can be different from Priceline hotels, for your individual dates Hotwire has 4* Strip South at $48, $49, $55, ....and ... a whomping $194 for the Friday night. And you can improve your odds even a little more if you use the code "summer" when bidding - it gives an extra 5% off. It is mentioned in the Bonus Money Opportunities, and also appears in the administrator thereuare's signature. Romelle
mzuraw1 Posted July 29, 2013 Author Report Posted July 29, 2013 Woohoo, my bids were accepted.9/10 to 9/13 - Treasure Island, $62/night + the 5% summer coupon. 9/13 to 9/14 - Golden Nugget on Freemont, $80 for the night + the 5% coupon. (posted HERE)When I was bidding on the Strip North, I started at $45 and it was accepted at $62. Priceline currently has what I think is TI under Express Deals for $67/night, so I saved an extra $15. I was looking for off-strip hotels, but I never stayed on Freemont St. I found the GN. Priceline had what I think is the GN under Express Deals for $89/night. I started bidding at $75 and it was accepted at $80.I am super excited, as the total cost will be around $300 with everything, from Tues to Saturday, and pretty nice hotels. And I originally wanted Treasure Island anyways. I appreciate all the help everyone and I used the PRICELINE links on this site.

Romelle Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 Very nicely done! And a great reason (other than economics) why you are staying your last night at the Golden Nugget:Fremont Street Experience Romelle
