jwblue Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 I am planning to visit Las Vegas 07.07.14 - 07.14.14.How long before those dates should I start bidding?I would like to stay at the Westin. On this site is the Priceline Hotel List up to date? Currently the Westin is listed as a 4* in near Strip East.If I bid early can I get a better price? What if I bid now for July 2014?
jwblue Posted July 25, 2013 Author Report Posted July 25, 2013 For Hotwire, how long before my arrival date should I purchase my room?

thereuare Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 I did reply. Posts #9 and #11.Correct... and post #12 asked how you booked the South Point (direct, HOTWIRE, PRICELINE, etc). Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jwblue Posted July 25, 2013 Author Report Posted July 25, 2013 Ok got it. There was a misunderstanding.I thought it was common knowledge that South Point does not book through PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.
thereuare Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 We have seen wins of the South Point posted to the board thru both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE, below is at least one example of each:Priceline hotel winLas Vegas hotwire hotelNobody reading your previous thread will know to look here to know that you ultimately booked direct, please follow-up your previous thread indicating that you booked direct, then reply here and we'll have a look at the offer above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. jwblue Posted July 26, 2013 Author Report Posted July 26, 2013 Done! Apology for the misunderstanding.
thereuare Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 You can start bidding once you're within 330 days of your check-out date.As far as when to bid, there is no set answer, as it all depends upon supply vs. expected demand (how many reservations the hotel has on the books, how many new reservations they expect, how many cancellations they expect, and how the actual numbers comes in relative to their expectations). For a further discussion see the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.BOTTOM LINE is to do you research using our BiddingHelper.com, Priceline Maps, and Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins to 'know' what a good deal should be... early on bid only up to a limit that you know would be a 'good' deal should it be accepted, and you can increase your maximum bid further down the road as you get closer to your trip.Is there a particular reason you want the Westin, as this is not typically a first choice or sought after property. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jwblue Posted July 26, 2013 Author Report Posted July 26, 2013 I usually always stay in Starwood hotels and am rarely disappointed. The rate for the Westin is in the range I want to pay.
thereuare Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 Their Vegas properties is not one of the flagship hotels and gets mixed reviews, the biggest 'gripe' being location as it is not located directly on-strip, although it is walk-able (although you realize during your July dates the temperature can exceed 100 degrees and it may not be very comfortable). Make sure you read the reviews before bidding, but you still have a few weeks left before you're eligible to purchase for July 2014... feel free to bump this thread once you're within 330 days. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jwblue Posted October 1, 2013 Author Report Posted October 1, 2013 I would like the Westin Casuarina ( I know that no one else does). On BiddingHelper.com for Strip-East I am getting the following amenities. Indoor or Outdoor PoolFree ParkingRestaurantCasinoThere are not any ratings numbers. However, about a month ago in another thread someone identified a hotel with these amenities as the Westin.Outdoor Swimming PoolFree ParkingPets AllowedRestaurantBusiness CenterCasinoFitness CenterThere is also a thread with someone guessing these amenities are the Hard Rock which is also in this area for PRICELINE EXPRESS.Outdoor Swimming PoolFree ParkingPets AllowedRestaurantBusiness CenterCasinoFitness CenterDoes HOTWIRE usually give better rates than PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals for the same hotel?
thereuare Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.Indoor or Outdoor PoolFree ParkingRestaurantCasinoI don't believe the Westin nor the Hard Rock have been confirmed with a PRICELINE EXPRESS win reported to the board, but my best guess for the one above would be the Hard Rock. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
