wunderkid23 Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Trying to name my own price. $68 and $69 have failed. Can I trust adding this zone way out there, Boulder Strip, Henderson, and Las Vegas Speedway to keep bidding for the same few 4* hotels on the N strip? I'm worried PL updates their list suddenly and I'm stuck in a hotel out in the middle of nowhere. PS: never been to Vegas
thereuare Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please read your messages.Using the method outlined in Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, using re-bid zones has been a relatively safe endeavor (i know of 2-3 issues in 10+ years where a user received a hotel that was not indicated by the re-bid zone, so it's certainly possible, but also highly unlikely). You need to be comfortable with whatever bidding strategy methods you choose to utilize. If you're not comfortable using re-bid zones you can bid using only acceptable zones (and need to increase your bids by more than $1/day since you don't have that much time before your stay) OR use PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE.If you do decide to use re-bid zones, there are currently FOUR re-bid zones available when bidding the 4* level in Las Vegas... feel free to confirm them with the board and/or ask questions before bidding. What is your maximum bid for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Romelle Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 If you are bidding using the current 11 4* LAS free re-bid zones, and don't have a particularly fast computer and/or aren't particularly fast yourself, there can be quite a bit of time from the first bid to the last. I like to keep a second screen open for this situation. On it, for each bid in the series, I check the free zones just before hitting the last button. While there is no way of reducing the risk to a perfect zero, this method cuts the risk to a gap of mere seconds. Romelle
wunderkid23 Posted July 24, 2013 Author Report Posted July 24, 2013 I don't have a specific ceiling for bidding prices. From what I understand, all these quoted rates exclude the daily resort fees :( I tried 70, 71, 72, and 73 today through the PRICELINE link on the site. No luck yet. Will keep everyone posted! Express deals are going for 88 but I feel I can do better!
Romelle Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 In my prior note I mention 11 rebid zones. Major OOPS. As thereuare carefully pointed out, there are currently only 4 for use when bidding at the 4* level. You are correct that the daily resort fees are excluded from the quoted rates. Romelle

wunderkid23 Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 I stopped trying to bid and went straight to the hotel's website. I had to bid for two groups: one staying weds thru sat and another thurs thru sat. The discounts from playing with similar starred hotels did not make up for having to book the second hotel from PRICELINE's quotes since the Friday night rates were so high. I really wanted a hotel near the Venetian and trying to land a 3 star could have left me a half hour walk from there. My friend told me to sign up for a total rewards card from Caesar's. The Flamingo had excellent Friday night rates relative to everyone else. The prices fluctuate from the time of day. I recommend trying them in the early to mid afternoon. I ended up dropping about $550 for a Weds, Thurs, Fri + Thurs, Fri reservation, INCLUDING the resort fees. I'm excited to visit Vegas for the first time! Sorry I did not end up using PRICELINE to book my stay.
