Robert A Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 I'm pretty much new here and would like to bid on the Fisherman's Wharf area, Sunday 7/28 for two nights using Name Your Price. Some questions...We're 2 adults, and our 4 year old daughter. Does that eliminate Priceline? We probably prefer to bid on a "4.0" and work down. It really comes down to location and price. Can anyone give us information on successful bids in the area?Lastly, what are our parking options? Thanks in advance!RobertEDIT: I see that folks are getting the Marriott (3.5) for around $170 to $200. This sounds fine to us.
thereuare Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! We're 2 adults, and our 4 year old daughter. Does that eliminate Priceline?PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Can anyone give us information on successful bids in the area? You can see all hotels reported to the board in the corresponding priceline and HOTWIRE Hotel Lists. For wins that may have been reported to the board on/around your specific dates see our Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.If bidding on PRICELINE my guess is that a 4* will likely run in the ~$200 area and a 3.5* in the ~$160 area, but first let us know if you're willing to accept the occupancy risk of using PRICELINE OR if you prefer to have a look at HOTWIRE, and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Robert A Posted July 23, 2013 Author Report Posted July 23, 2013 Anyone have information on which hotels in the Marina district exist for PRICELINE? The hotel list does show anything.
thereuare Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 The Monte Cristo, Hotel Drisco, and Laurel Inn would be at least three possibilities at the 3* level, but there could be others as well. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Robert A Posted July 24, 2013 Author Report Posted July 24, 2013 Finally landed the Argonaut at Fisherman's Wharf 4* at $205. Was willing to go a little higher for a 4* hotel with the hopes of a better location and/or facility than 3.5*. I really got concerned that I was actually bidding on a 3.5* Marriott disguised as a 4* since P/L was offering 4.5* and 5* categories in a zone that Better Bidding doesn't show listings for.
yellowdog Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Thank you for sharing your result with the board!Enjoy your stay. Please use the board's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your purchases and searchesYellowdog.
racingmama Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 How many beds did you get with your bid? We're also planning to visit SF July 29-31. My husband, daughter, and I, and possibly a dog are all going. I'm pushing for 3-4*. But I'm just worried if I try name your price that I won't be able to get more than double occupancy. Please help. Need to finalize today. Thanks!
Robert A Posted July 27, 2013 Author Report Posted July 27, 2013 1 bed, and we're having difficulty arranging for a 2nd. The hotel said rooms with 2 beds were pretty booked but they'll try. Also note that the PL rooms at the Argonaut face an interior courtyard -- no views.
AaronJB Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 These would appear to be very busy date/s, but hopefully you'll be able to get two beds at check-in. Good luck and thanks for keeping us updated.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
