cwood Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Traveling with two teen sons and wife, trying to book 2 rooms from Aug 11 to 14th and want to stay in a 4+ star in the Foggy Bottom area. Trying to keep it in the $150 / night / room range (Canadian)Hotwire comes up with one at $149Pet friendlyFitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessTrying to narrow down but not finding matches on other sites.75% approval rating by hotwire users and a 3.5 on tripavisor...seems a bit low for a 4 star?
thereuare Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages. Please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.Best guess for the property above would be the Melrose Hotel Washington.Do you have reason to be in this specific zone? There are other ares of DC that are generally considered more centrally located for the average visitor. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. cwood Posted July 21, 2013 Author Report Posted July 21, 2013 Thank you for the guidance. The area was recommended by a friend. I am open to other ideas! The trip is for general experience of the City and the sights. My boys are 16 and 18 and quite interested in history. My challenge is having to pay for two rooms and keeping my wife happy (picky about hotels).
thereuare Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Some other ideas as to what i think i'm seeing around the same price point:4.5* White House zone: Loews Madison Hotel for $141/nite4* Capitol Hill: The George Hotel for $118/niteBoth of the hotels above are highly rated and should put you centrally located near most of the sights and convenient to mass transit. Georgetown is a nice area, but some parts of the zone are not covered as well by the metro. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cwood Posted July 21, 2013 Author Report Posted July 21, 2013 Loews does look nice.High odds the the one at $141 USD is the Loews?
thereuare Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 4.5* White House with:Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... best guess for this one would be the Loews Madison Hotel. While i feel 'good' about this guess, should i be wrong, you have a bit of a safety net given this property has a 4.5/5.0 TA rating, which is excellent. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
