campusqueen Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 We are a family of 3 traveling to NYC and definitely need 2 beds. I prefer Times Square or Central Park West areas. We currently have back up reservations at the Lucerne for $256 average per night with a guaranteed 2 bed room. I want to find a nicer hotel for less expensive. Any experiences with getting a guaranteed 2 beds?

Tempted to go for what it appears to be the Intercontinental, but it's showing at $244 per night - not that much cheaper considering we're getting free internet at the Lucerne. Any suggestions?
AaronJB Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. Please keep all posts regarding this stay within this thread - thanks. There is no way to guarantee 2 beds when using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, especially in NYC, given that rooms in the city are smaller-than-average overall, with some as small as 135-165 sq ft, even at the 3.5-4* level. If you use HOTWIRE and indicate more than 2 people in the room, then you should get some form of bedding for the entire party - that can mean 2 beds or 1 + sofa or 1 + rollaway. Is that acceptable? If so, are you seeing any listings of interest on HOTWIRE (if so, please provide the complete list of information from the listing, including all amenities associated with the listing.)Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
campusqueen Posted July 21, 2013 Author Report Posted July 21, 2013 OK, thanks. Looks like I have a better chance through Hotwire than Priceline as I can make that indication. This is the other property that I believe to be the Intercontinental. The total with tax included is $30 less total than the Lucerne before you add in the free internet. I'm going to look into how much internet is at the Interncontinental per day.4.5-star Hotel in Times Square - Theatre DistrictPet friendly Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf If anyone has experience with either property and strongly recommends one over the other, let me know as I could be tempted to pull the trigger. thereuare Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Is the above the full list of amenities associates with this property, including any 'accessible' ones, as this is what i'm currently seeing when searching HOTWIRE for your dates above and 3adults/0children:Pet Friendly Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower If this is what you're seeing best guess for this one would be the InterContinental Times Square. Both properties get great reviews and i don't think you can go too wrong with either, but all other things being equal, i would take the InterContinental for the location. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. campusqueen Posted July 21, 2013 Author Report Posted July 21, 2013 Just booked and it was in fact the Intercontinental :) The internet fee is only $13 per day so I'm coming out about even. Looks like all beds are King so if necessary we'll do an air mattress for the kiddo. Thanks for your help.
