thereuare Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! So we don't suggest a strategy that goes higher then you're willing to pay, what is your maximum bid for this trip? You can learn how to determine your re-bid zones in this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained (HINT: you have TWO re-bid zones when bidding 4* in NYC, see if you can use the information in this previous link to determine your re-bid zones and confirm them with the board)Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. levy333 Posted July 21, 2013 Author Report Posted July 21, 2013 hey,my budget is $170-180 (+tax and fees) per night. while searching HOTWIRE (with the board link) i found an offer (Millenium i guess?)4* hotel ($175) Amenities:Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access will be more than happy to win PRICELINE for less..tried to find the re-bid zones, Upper east side & Lower east side are correct?thanks for your help.levy333
thereuare Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 Let start by getting you up to speed on determining your re-bid zones...Start with the following...1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'New York City, NY' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

thereuare Posted July 22, 2013 Report Posted July 22, 2013 Mostly correct... the highest star rating offered in the Lower East Side zone is 4* but even with this one mistake you have your TWO re-bid zones correct (but always double check just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last checked)So you can try bidding as follows, using your TWO re-bid zones:Select 4* MTW...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTW and TS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150I expect the bids above to fail, but that is what i would try on my first round of bidding, and if rejected, wait 24 hours and re-try using this link to PRICELINE...So you can try bidding as follows, using your TWO re-bid zones:Select 4* MTW...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTW and TS...Bid $168, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $173Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
