Shaun9 Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Hi, I'm looking to visit San Francisco for 3 nights (Nov24-27). We won't have a car and don't have an area in mind yet, although we are looking for a safe place near transit but not too touristy. Somewhere near the BART would be ideal as I will need to take the BART back from Oakland one evening after 11pm.I am looking for an above average hotel (3.5* - 4*). I don't have a budget necessarily but $100 sounds about right but I am willing to pay more or less if need be.Thanks for any help!
thereuare Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet please start by reading your messagesIf you look at the PRICELINE or HOTWIRE map and zoom in on this region, find Market Street and you'll see the BART stations along the way. Typcially USE and USW are the most frequently bid zones, but you can also look at the Financial District which may also work for your needs. One note is that at 3.5* and below in the USW zone some hotels are in the tenderloin district which have a present homeless population which may panhandle and ask for change. I know of no 'incidents' occurring, but this makes some feel uncomfortable, i suppose depending upon their own home environment and how much homelessness they see in their own town/city.Once you decide upon your zones let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Also, in your reply let us know if you're willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR if your goal is the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Shaun9 Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 Thanks for your reply! All of those areas seem to work well, but if I had to rank them I'd say 1) Financial District, 2)USE and 3) USW (in that order of preference), although I'd pick one over the other if the price were right.I am willing to change my price although the 'buy it now' price for a 3.5* in the Financial District is $113. With is price it doesn't seem I would need to go higher for that area and star level. Thanks again!
Shaun9 Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 There's a 4* hotel in US (not sure if it's E or W) for $138. Therefore I started my bidding in USE and USW at $75 and went up to $95 with no luck.It looks like I may have to try the financial district or start bidding on 3.5 star hotel in Union Square. Any thoughts?
thereuare Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages2xPreviously you listed the Financial District as your first choice of zone... but when you bid it appear that you have only tried the USE and USW zones and not even included in the Financial District. Have you changed your preferences?Where is it that you're seeing the $115 rate for a hotel in the Union Square zone or the $115 hotel in the Financial District? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Shaun9 Posted July 24, 2013 Author Report Posted July 24, 2013 Yes that's true. I thought the Financial District would be my first choice and likely still is, although if I'm staying in a 3.5* or above in USE or USW I'd be just as happy. Here's a link to the 4* hotel in the Financial District
