Hotwire Hotel: Please ID Hotel - Anaheim South 3* $74

We want a walking distance hotel for our Disney trip the begining of December. I've looked around the forums and on Priceline and don't really know where to start.

- I'll start off by saying my computer is dying and has trouble with Java. This may be the root of my confusion :/. I had errors when looking at the calendar of wins.

- How do I check hotel rates/winning bids for the beginning of December?

- Do I start by getting a Priceline offer, or shall I do my research first?

- Once I get a Priceline quote, how do I identify the hotel?

- What is the extent of the research you recommend and how should I go about it?

I've read lots of great tips, I just need to make a game plan instead of bouncing around the site!

When you bid on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose. Unless the entire zone is walkable to your destination, you can't ensure being within walking distance to any specific location. If you only want a hotel that is walkable try our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com that makes it easy to see hotels near any address or landmark and then easily sort/filter them to see how much more/less it would cost to stay closer/further from your ideal location and how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating.

If your computer is old and it's worth investing in more memory i would do so... if you don't think that is the issue i would uninstall and re-istall java (but declined the anti-virus software they always try to bundle with their download ;) )

Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins would be your best option... as well as our Priceline Maps. (but you may have an issue loading that as well if you're having javascript issues)

- What is the extent of the research you recommend and how should I go about it?

Start here: I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire as it will give an overview as to the differences, and similarities, between PRICELINE and HOTWIRE.

Then reply here with any additional questions you have and the actual dates of your trip, desired star rating, and target budget (per nite before taxes and fees) and we'll take it from there.

We are aiming for Dec. 8-13th, 2 1/2-3* and/or a hot breakfast, $65 or less per night

So I've checked out the Priceline Maps, 3* hotels around CA, Anaheim North/Disneyland and it looks like a couple of them would be ideal, the other 3* ones are not as desirable. Is there a way to aim for the ones I prefer even if they are all 3*?

Are your plans firm in that you are able to commit to a non-refundable purchase at this point in time?

There is no way to ensure an included breakfast when bidding on PRICELINE. If this is important to you then search HOTWIRE or PRICELINE EXPRESS and choose an offer that shows the Free Breakfast amenity.

Is there a way to aim for the ones I prefer even if they are all 3*?

You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for.

I'm not currently seeing this property offered when searching HOTWIRE for your dates... are you still seeing the above on your own search? If so, are you searching HOTWIRE for more than one room or for more than the default 2adults/0children?

It's for two adults, one child. This morning it's at $73/night. HOTWIRE says the retail price is $106/night which sounds more like the Staybridge.

Unfortunately this property has not yet been reported to the board (at least not with this amenity combination). I am seeing what i beleive to be the Holiday Inn Anaheim Resort for about the same, price should this be of any interest? (although based upon the reviews and user feedback the one above seems to be a little higher rated)

Yes, Hotwire had both internet and high-speed internet listed on the amenities. Glad I asked since I thought it was likely the staybridge. I will keep watching for something I can better identify.

I'm looking at a Disnland North area 3* for 87/night. Retail is $129.

Travel Dates are December 8-14 for 2 adults & 1 child. No Trip Advisor rating, but the Hotwire rating says 75%.

Is Anaheim South the only zone you're willing to accept or is the North zone acceptable too? What criteria are you looking for from this stay?

It's early so I'm looking for my "pie in the sky" deal until it gets closer :)I haven't been super sucessful at identifying the ones that interest me. Any pointers there?

Both the North and South areas are great. It seems like the South area properties I've seen have included a trip advisor rating more frequently and that is a good assurance I am getting something I want so I've been leaning towards the ones that reaveal a good trip advisor rating.

Non-negotiable: December 8-14, 2 adults, 2 children

Negotiable: I've looked at 1*-3.5* hotels and will consider any of them. Ideally I would like to eat a hot breakfast in our hotel (not a doughnut and orange juice) and walk to the park; all for around $70/night, but we'd pay a little more for the perfect place. A pool would be nice too. Any other ammenities are of no particular importance. I know this is a tall order on a Hotwire purchase so I'm happy to compromise.

If you happen to notice anything that meets a couple of these requests I'd be happy to know about it! Thanks for your help!

My best find today is a 3.5* Anaheim South area for $89/night. The amenities appear to match the Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort.

December 8-14, 2 Adults, 2 children. 90% Hotwire recomended, 4 of 5 on Trip Advisor

I'm not currently seeing the property above when searching for your dates, but i did find this which seems to fit your criteria (although i haven't looked a the exact location on a map to find out if walkable to Disneyland):

I went with the Anaheim Del Sol Inn. I called the front desk and got a double queen room for $88/night, and it's a 5 minute walk to disneyland. It's a good price and it has all the ammenities we need so I couldn't pass it up. We just had too many Disneyland "Must Have's" to take a risk on HOTWIRE this time.

Thanks for your help! I'll be back; I'm mentally planning our next vacation and I think I'll try to book that one through HOTWIRE.
