Priceline Hotel: 3.5 Empire State Building - 8th-11th of December

Hi,

Thank you for this forum. I have a few questions regarding booking at priceline.com, express deal and bidding.

Y'day I saw a great express deal "3.5 Empire State building-area" - 186dollar per night, 2 rooms, 8th-11th of Decmber. I tried to buy it, though, no luck - the deal was no longer available, sold out... Is that common?

Am thinking about trying the "name your own price" instead. Please, any advice? Max 200+tax per night and room, area Empire State Building, Times Square, min 3.5star.

The PRICELINE EXPRESS property is likely gone (at least for now) and will be dropped from the PRICELINE search results in a few hours (if not already).

There are quite a few options available sub-$200 on HOTWIRE (all the following are my 'best guesses')...

What i'm guessing to be The Lucerne is offered $189/nite, it's not my favorite part of the city, as it's a little too north for my taste, but the hotel gets great reviews and would be a great deal at this price.

What appears to be the 3.5* Yotel Times Square is also available $199/nite and also gets great reviews (4.5/5.0 TA rating)

Thoughts on either of these are would you prefer to try your hand bidding on PRICELINE? If bidding, are TS and ESB the only two zones you're willing to accept?

PS- if you do look at HOTWIRE, please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase. Thanks.
