Alex from Ohio Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 I am looking to stay downtown Chicago, preferably the Magnificent Mile North area, from 7/26-7/28. I have two small children so a place with free breakfast is a highly desirable convenience. A 3* hotel is sufficient for our needs, but having breakfast be so convenient is worth paying a little more. That being said, I was hoping to be in the $100-115 range, but am not finding much that specifies the breakfast amenity. Usually, it seems free wifi and breakfast go hand in hand. Is that a safe assumption? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. The issue with downtown Chicago is that there are only a handful of hotels that offer free breakfast (the two Hamptons, the two Residences, the two Embassies, the HI Express, the Amalfi, Springhill and new Hyatt Place). They have rarely (Amalfi, the Residences), never (the Hampton Majestic, Springhill) or much less than before (the Embassies) been seen as wins on either discount services. There are a couple of new hotels that offer breakfast, but they have not been reported to the board yet.Unfortunately, I'm not seeing any listings for these properties on HOTWIRE or PRICELINE Express. $110-115 is also unfortunately going to be difficult for these dates as rates on HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS are generally more towards the $125-150+ range.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Alex from Ohio Posted July 19, 2013 Author Report Posted July 19, 2013 Using your link today, I rolled the dice on PRICELINE and nailed the 3* Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza on North Michigan Ave. for $115 on my first try. While it doesn't look like they have continental breakfast, I'm happy with this deal anyway since it looks like a much nicer hotel than 3*. Thanks for your help!
AaronJB Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice win for this property - I would suggest asking if there was any way you could get a river view room. While PRICELINE reservations are not eligible for upgrades, in this case, I think (if you are interested), it's worth a try. Worst they can say is no.Let us know if you have any city questions - Xoco at 449 N Clark is not that far away and a breakfast/lunch/dinner option. There are PLENTY of other various restaurant options in the River North area.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
