kicker245 Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Hi there,I'll be in Chicago from 8/30 - 9/2 (3 nights) and was hoping to book a hotel in River North/NMA or somewhere in the loop closer to Wacker for ~$100. Is this going to be possible? I did Priceline bidding by adding re-bid zones from $83 - $95 and had no luck. Hoping I can get some guidance from the board. Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move even higher, between now and your stay... it is depends upon if actual new booking/cancellations come in stronger/weaker then current expectations. What we do now know is that at this time $95 is not enough for a 4* hotel for these dates. I will further add that you're not likely that far off... HOTWIRE has what appears to be the The Allerton Hotel on Magnificent Mile for $125/niteDo you want to wait out and hope for lower prices in the weeks ahead, increase your bid another $10-$15, or include any other nearby zones (The Loop??)?Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kicker245 Posted July 17, 2013 Author Report Posted July 17, 2013 Hi, thanks for the reply! I don't mind waiting at all since that is quite a ways off. When do you recommend trying again? I wouldn't mind booking a hotel in The Loop if it was north or directly west of Grant Park but I think it would be risky to choose that zone in case I get placed way further south?
AaronJB Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 It all really depends on what you want to do. The Loop is close to museums and offers some shopping, but some of the Loop (particularly the West and some of the South Loop) gets rather quiet later in the evening. If you are going to be out later in the evening, the area North of the river has more going on later into the evening. If you do not want to be South of, say, the Art Institute, then I would not bid for the Loop.I'd bid every few days - in hotel terms, Labor Day is not really that far off.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
