iqdarko Posted July 15, 2013 Author Report Posted July 15, 2013 Its a very long vacation all in all...on the 21st We land in Florida, then a cruise and fun in miami and orlando, from there my parents go to NYC alone for 3 days, and we meet up with them on the 11th until the 17th in NYC.. done and done! :D
thereuare Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 Based upon current rates, unless you are willing to stay in the Downtown-Financial District, i don't think your budget is realistic for a 5* hotel in the zones you're willing to accept.3 Nights, rather a *5 hotel, Area can be Midtown East/West, Time Square, Central Park. There are current no 5* hotels offer in the MTW zone so we will not include that in your bidding. When bidding 5* in NYC you have TEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* CPS, TS and MTE...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. iqdarko Posted July 17, 2013 Author Report Posted July 17, 2013 Hey Guys, as I posted yesterday, I successfully "won" thanks to you, a priceline bid for 2 nights in Miami! Now, I want to continue the hotel bookings for my family's vacation... B) We are looking for 3 bedrooms in Orlando, I liked the Buena Vista Lake - Downtown Disney area, 4* Hotel (hopefully a Disney theme one) :P 8/1-4/8 - price range: around $70..I saw in the hotel list, that 4* could be Disney swan and dolphin which could be great (cost per night on Hotels.com around $120)...What do you think? Thanks again..
thereuare Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Note that the Disney property are seen very rarely and have not been seen in quite some time... i wouldn't expect a disney themed/on-site property. If this is OK, what star rating do you want to try for and what is your maximum bid? It appears you're looking to only bid the Downtown-LBV zone? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. iqdarko Posted July 17, 2013 Author Report Posted July 17, 2013 Hi thanks for the super fast reply!Well, I didn't get my hopes up about the Disney hotels... I knew it would be a long shot!I am looking for at least 4* hotels (if possible more)... Buena Vista or Main Gate both are execellent...as I said I saw for example the Buena vista resort and spa for $110 at Hotels.com, so $60-$70 sounds reasonable right? Thanks again!
thereuare Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 When bidding 4* in Orlando you have EIGHT re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* LBV...Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $43, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $48, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Maingate...Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $43, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $48, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* LBV and Maingate...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $63, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. iqdarko Posted July 18, 2013 Author Report Posted July 18, 2013 Hi again, I have a quick technical question you might be able to help me with...I am about to bid today, as I mentioned above, 8/1 - 8/4, and I was thinking of adding another room for a part of the time.Is it possible to win the bid, lets say $60 per night 8/1 - 8/4 and then somehow add another room for 2 nights 8/1 - 8/3? or will that be not possible? Thanks in advance!!
thereuare Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 It's not possible, you have three options:1) bid for 2 rooms for 8/1-8/4 and 'eat' the cost of the one room for the last nite2) bid for 2 rooms for 8/1-8/3 and then purchase (bid or direct) one additional room for 8/4. The additional room for 8/4, if you bid you may receive a different hotel and will need to change properties for that one nite, if intend to purchase direct the hotel could be prohibitively expensive (or sold-out so you can't purchase a room directly at any price, and would therefore need to change hotels)3) make two different purchases, one for 8/1-8/3 and one for 8/1-8/4, with the risk that you win two different propertiesA FOURTH OPTIONS:4) use HOTWIRE and see if the same hotel appears when searching for 8/1-8/3 as when searching for 8/1-8/4 (do the each search for two rooms as well as for one room, the reason being will be explained a sentence or two further down). If so, you could purchase the room for the first set of dates and then immediately purchase a room for the second set of dates. The risk is that after you make the first purchase the 'same' hotel doesn't appear when you immediately go to make the second purchase. This could happen for any number of reasons, but the most likely would be if the hotel was only offering one room for this date range. If this were the case, the same hotel would appear for a current search of both 8/1-8/3 and for 8/1-8/4, but once you make the first purchase the inventory is gone and therefore no longer available when you do the second set of dates. You can minimize this happening by searching for TWO rooms on the initial 'check' to see if the same inventory is offered for both set of dates, this way you know that more than one room is offered. You also want to do the 'check' for ONE ROOM for each nite but i think this may already be getting a bit too 'hotwire geeky' so just take my word for it to do each date search for both 1 room and 2 rooms. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Any questions feel free to ask. JoelW Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 Sorry for the delay in updating my threads.. As I'm on vacation I use an iPad which isn't easy!I ended up with the Rosen Plaza Hotel 4* on international drive south - 51 P/N - Very pleased!!! :P Thanks again!!!Can you confirm that this was a 4* win? The Rosen Plaza has historically been a 3.5* property (we've won it as such in the past) but it's possible PL bumped it up to a 4. While it's very nice, I wouldn't put it in the same category as Shingle Creek, Hilton, JW Marriott, etc. But I've also found that my opinion doesn't always line up with PL!
AaronJB Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 I'm still seeing it as 3.5 at the moment. The original poster can also confirm by looking at the trip information under their PRICELINE account.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
