Priceline Hotel: 4* London (Kensington - Earls Court) Copthorne Tara Kensington

I tried to book a room on PRICELINE (I did use your link) for the Kensington/Earl's Court neighborhood of London. I started out with a low bid of $85 and of course was turned down. It kept saying I had to choose a different neighborhood or star level, which I didn't want to do. I just wanted to increase my bid. Priceline said for one time only I could rebid by increasing my bid by $25, which I didn't do. Instead, I closed out the browser and rebid two more times getting up to $105. Finally, it said I could not re-bid again for another 24 hours. Why is that? I saw someone got a hotel in this neighborhood for $109 on Hotwire so I'll start with that bid tonight, but I'm afraid if it continues to reject my bids it'll take days to book this room. What gives? Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

PRICELINE's rules state that you can only place an identical bid once every 24 hours (identical in terms of star rating, dates, and zones) as otherwise everyone would star at $1, then $2, then $3, then $4, etc, etc until they won a hotel.

Assuming your next two bids were actually reviewed by PRICELINE (there is a chance the system just rejected them out as duplicates) the 'right' price for a room for your stay is between $106 (since your last rejected bid was $105) and $110 (the amount of the counter-offer $85 + $25)

What are the dates of your stay? What star rating were you bidding? What is your maximum bid for this trip?

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Let us know the information above and we'll advise further.

Thanks for the clarification.

What are the dates of your stay? 9/5/13 - 9/7/13

What star rating were you bidding? 4*

What is your maximum bid for this trip? I'm hoping for a great deal under $150 but we'll see what we can considering it's London.

Used your PRICELINE links to book this 4 star in London/Kensington, England.

Used Summer coupon to save %5

Room Subtotal: US$218.00

Taxes & Fees: US$53.22

I saved $68 per night by using Priceline instead of booking throught the hotel website. I heard others say they hoped to NOT get this hotel, but oh well. Hopefully, it works out for us anyway.

It is just a short walk to the High Street Kensington tube stop and then you can get most anywhere in London.

About a 1/2 block along the way is The Muffin Man for a great breakfast or snack.

There are all sorts of interesting places along Kensington High Street, including a Marks and Spencer.

The Kensington Central Library is just across Kensington High Street and up a block (there was a sign pointed to it the last time I was there).

You might enjoy walk in the Kensington Gardens.

Do ask for as high up a room as they will give you. They seem to get nicer as one gets higher.

I'm sure it will work out fine for you.

Romelle

PS - what are your dates?

Thanks for using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding :)

We hope you're satisfied with the outcome and will like the hotel.

I always take the TA reviews with a grain of salt. And keep in mind with TA reviews that many of those people paid full price, which is often significantly more, and may have different expectations at those price points.

Enjoy your stay.
