twitchery Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 Hello, first post here! Looking for a nice place close to the Chicago Theater to celebrate my husband's birthday and see a concert Sept 20,21. Any thoughts what these hotels are? Wishing the 4* would be The Wit, but based on info I researched on this site it seems a spa amenity is needed. Thanks in advance for any input, I really appreciate it.Hotwire shows 2 hotels with these ammenities: 4* $174Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deafAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibility3 1/2* $149Free InternetPet friendlySmoke Free RoomsFitness CenterBusiness CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessAccessible for the blindAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibility
thereuare Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 Can you please confirm if this is a one nite stay 9/20-9/21 or a two nite stay 9/20-9/22.I'm not currently seeing the 4* property offered when searching HOTWIRE for your dates (i tried both sets of dates) ... are you still seeing the above on your own search? If so, are you searching HOTWIRE for more than one room or for more than the default 2adults/0children? For the 3.5* property, HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process. Please try the following:use this link to search HOTWIREfrom the search results page click the offer for this hotelon the next page click BOOK NOW (no worries about purchasing by accident since no credit card information is entered up to this point)on the left side of the page click the 'See all amenities' linkIf you follow the above, do you now see more than what you previously listed above? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. twitchery Posted July 17, 2013 Author Report Posted July 17, 2013 Stay is for 2 nights, Sept 20-22.I looked at the amenities for the 3* (95% rec) per your instructions, and it's the same as I posted with the addition at the end of Wheelchair Accessible, Accessible Bathroom, Handicapped Parking and Roll-in Shower. I have a feeling it's Club Quarters- do you agree? However, I did find something interesting with regards to the 4*. I actually did use BiddingHelper to do my initial search that's posted above. It wouldn't load in Firefox so I opened it in Safari. I noticed that the 4* price that came up was slightly lower than the HOTWIRE link I had used from this site using Firefox. It came up $189 Firefox and $184 Safari today ($174 gone). So I went through the process to buy and compared the amenities for both, wondering if they were the same hotel. All amenities are the same except for 1- In Room Accessibility, found in the Safari search. Here's the new list:4* $184 (Safari), $189 (Firefox) 85% recPet friendly Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access In-room accessibility (Safari)Accessible bathroom Also included now in both search engines is:3* $161 (80% rec)Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
thereuare Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 It's not uncommon for HOTWIRE to fluctuate prices from one search to the next... the same is true for the percent recommended (as i'm seeing 95% recommended for the properties above when i search for your dates)My guess is that these both are indeed the same property and my guess for the hotel would be a new amenity set(s) for the Monaco Chicago. Are you no longer interested in the 3.5* property? (since at $149/nite that would be a better value then the 3* now listed above)If you're stilling having an issue with the BiddingHelper.com can you please PM me with the details of your set-up (desktop or mobile device, apple vs. windows, FF version, etc) as i'm using FF and having no issue with the BiddingHelper. Do you have an issue with all the pages/tabs loading or just the one to HOTWIRE?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. twitchery Posted July 17, 2013 Author Report Posted July 17, 2013 Thanks for helping to identify the 4*. I'm definitely still interested in the 3 1/2*, what's your guess? And I included the 3* just out of curiosity, since these were the only three that were listed. Any guesses? Thanks so much. Also, do you find that booking well ahead of time is better than waiting until closer to the dates? Perhaps there's no rule with this, but I'm wondering if more options will open up closer to the date or if I should just nab one of these now.
AaronJB Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 If you are going to be doing a lot of other things around the city during the stay I would not necessarily limit the search to the Loop. The 3* in the Loop would be a possible match for the Holiday Inn Downtown, which I wouldn't recommend. I'd guess the 3.5* would be a possible new amenity set for the Wyndham Blake; if that was the case, that is in the South Loop and not terribly convenient if you're going to be going all around the city.I'm also seeing a 4* in the Mag Mile North-Water Tower area:Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower If I click on the listing and then scroll down on the detail page, I'm seeing a 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating (a tripadvisor logo w/4.5/5 circles shaded). That would be a possible match for the MileNorth Hotel. If you are going to be out later at night, there will be more going on in this area and it's not a terrible walk (very short cab) to the restaurants of the River North area.Let us know if you have any questions before booking.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
twitchery Posted July 17, 2013 Author Report Posted July 17, 2013 Thank you Aaron for your advice and suggestions. Definitely worth considering since we will be there a couple days and want to have easy access to things nearby. I was initially trying to aim for something in the loop in the Theater District so we can see a show. But now I realize it's better to have a better location and find another way to the theater. Thanks.
