cclaser
We are looking to book either by Hotwire or Priceline for the weekend of October 19th I. Downtown Indy. There are a couple of listings for 4 star hotels on priceline express and hotwire for a reasonable rate. They are both listed with a pet friendly icon. Does anyone have a feel for what this might be? An suggestions would be great. Our budget is up to 150 per night and we want to get the best value close to Lucas Oil. We definitely want to avoid the University Place hotel which is too far from downtown. Thanks! Link to comment
yellowdog
Please list the amenities HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS associates with the hotels you're looking at and we'll be happy to have a look at this. Please only post the amenity names (and not the full descriptions that go along with it) as it will make your post easier for us to read and helps minimize the chance that we miss an amenity when researching your hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog. cclaser
Thank you Yellowdog! Listed below are the three 4 star options. The hotel on HOTWIRE has the following specifics - list price 219, sale price 153, 90 % favorable reviewAmenities - pet friendly, pool, no smoking, fitness, dining, business center, high speed Internet, 36 wide hac access, in room accessible. The other hotwire option is 202, 85 % favorable, same ammenities except the handicap features are access for blind and deaf.On PRICELINE EXPRESS, the price is 152, 8.0 rating, free Internet. Pets allowed, restaurant, business center, pool, and fitness center.Do you know if University Place hotel and Conference center has closed? If so, I would be far more comfortable using priceline to bid on a 4 star for these dates. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
From the Priceline Hotel List, and HERE, the University Place Hotel is currently 3.5* rated by PRICELINE... if you're bidding 4* you shouldn't receive this property (assume there is no change in star level between now and the time you are looking to bid)Did you want to try bidding on PRICELINE first for a 4* hotel? If so, what is your maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cclaser
I called, and it sounds like University Place is being converted to student housing, and a conference center. Yes, bidding on PRICELINE would be great. My max bid would be in the 85 range. Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Rates are currently fairly high for these dates and i don't think you'll likely be successful in the $85-area... i don't think you should expect a nearly 50% discount from HOTWIRE or PRICELINE EXPRESS rates, as these are also opaque and already deeply discounted. If you want to give it a try anyway, when bidding 4* in Indianpolis you have TEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Downtown...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90I sent up to $90, which at the moment i still don't think will be successful, but you are of course free to stop at whatever amount you'd like. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. cclaser
Thank you for your help. It looks like every zone is a rebid option for a 4 star? Two questions, for the 150 hotwire option, do you have anyy idea a put the hotel? Also, what would be a reasonable amount to bid above 90 that might be successful? Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Is this the amenity set of the 4* hotel:Pet Friendly Indoor Pool Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking If so my best guess for this one would be the The Westin Indianapolis.Assuming this guess is correct, how much would you need to save to make it worthwhile to accept a hotel anywhere within the zone vs. the close proximity of this one to your desired location? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cclaser
The westin is a great location. If you are reasonably certain this is the hotel, I will pull the trigger. It's actually dropped a little. I know there are no sure things. Link to comment

cclaser
Yes, thank you for all of your help. We did end up staying at the Westin. It has been awhile ago, but it was slightly less than the $150. I think it was 145$. Link to comment
