yellowdog Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 I can't get the same hotel to appear on my standard search for 2 adults. How many rooms/adults/children did you search for? Can you please run a new search and confirm that you still can see this hotel on your search. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 I'm seeing this on my HOTWIRE search for your dates... best guess for this property would be the Hilton Daytona Beach Ocean Walk Village. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. elaine86music Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 But isn't the Hilton a 3.5 star? I am really hoping to get The Shores Resort. My initial search was for Daytona Beach Shores. Today it is coming up as $80 for the 4 star, and there is a 3.5 star for $105/night.Should I use Priceline instead, since the only 4 star hotel listed there is The Shores?Thank you!
Romelle Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 This is a good example of HOTWIRE being more generous with stars than PRICELINE. The DB Hilton is a 3.5* on Priceline, but a 4* on Hotwire. If you bid via PRICELINE, you need to take this into consideration. Regarding The Shores being the only 4* listed, you can't count on it. If you got the information from the Hotel List on this site, that list only includes those hotels members have reported. There can always be as yet unreported ones. If you got the information from PRICELINE's retail side, the bidding side can (and does) include different hotels. PRICELINE tends to be a little less expensive than HOTWIRE, but not necessarily so. If you are comfortable with not knowing just what hotel you might get, bidding can save a bit. Romelle
elaine86music Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 But this website lists the Hilton as a 3.5 star under the Hotwire hotel list. Why would it come up as a 4 star?Thank you
thereuare Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 But this website lists the Hilton as a 3.5 star under the Hotwire hotel list. Why would it come up as a 4 star?... because star ratings can, and do, change based upon user feedback or HOTWIRE changing their criteria to qualify for a given star level. This property has not been reported to the board since Novemeber of last year (when it was a 3.5* rated hotel) but it could have been upgraded since then. Even if we suspect a hotel has been upgraded since last reported to the board, we don't upgrade the Hotel Lists until it's been confirmed with a purchase. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can beof further help. elaine86music Posted July 16, 2013 Author Report Posted July 16, 2013 4 star Daytona Beach Shores Bidding HelpTrying to get The Shores ResortNeed for one night 7/17Website lists price as $169, HOTWIRE and Travelocity lists the hotel for $119If I bid for the Daytona Shores area, the only 4 star is The Shores, correct? I do not want to stay at the Hilton or any of the other Daytona hotels.Where should I start bidding?Thank you,
thereuare Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... i have merged your two topics.Your original topic was for 7/16-7/18, but now you're looking at only the nite of 7/17... did you shorten this trip, win a hotel for the first nite already, or make other plans for that nite?If I bid for the Daytona Shores area, the only 4 star is The Shores, correct? There is no way to know this... even if it is the only 4* hotel in the Hotwire Hotel List for this zone, the hotel lists only contain hotels reported to the board, so there could always be others. As well, as referenced in a previous post in this thread, star rating upgrades/downgrades can occur at any time, and new hotels are added to the system frequently, so there could be a new 4* rated hotel in the zone that is not yet 'known'.Based upon the above let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
