henleychd Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 I will be traveling to San Francisco in November and am planning on staying 3 nights starting on 11/9/13. I would like to spend less than $130/nt for the Fisherman's Wharf area, does this sound reasonable? Would prefer 4* but 3.5* is fine also. Could you help with a bidding strategy for this? Also, would it be too soon to start bidding now? Thanks

thereuare Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Based upon current rates I don't think you're in the right ballpark for a 3.5* or better in this zone.Using MAPS and HOTELS.com search '1 mile from Fishermans Wharf San Francisco' and clear the map of anything lower than 3.5* rated... what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for these dates? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. henleychd Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 3.5* Best Western at $2224* Sheraton at $239Those are to two lowest rates that show up on that website. I would probably be okay with 3* in that area as well. If you have any advice I would appreciate it.
thereuare Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Sorry, i thought your dates were 11/19... not 11/9, let me re-check some things:I don't think you have much of a chance at a 4* property, and if successful for a 3.5* it will be near the top of your range, but to give it a try i'd bid as follows:When bidding 4* in San Francisco you have SIX re-bid zones... when bidding 3.5* you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Fisherman's Wharf...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if the above is rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3.5* Fisherman's Wharf...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130Any questions feel free to ask. If the above is rejected we'll then have a look at 3* rates and properties. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. henleychd Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 Went through and tried all of the suggested bids and no luck. Is there any strategy for 3*?
thereuare Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 When bidding 3* in San Francisco you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Fishermans Wharf...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130If the above is rejected try again every 24 hours using $135/$140 and then $145/$150.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. henleychd Posted July 15, 2013 Author Report Posted July 15, 2013 Tried 3* as well with no success. I used the MAPS and HOTELS.com link you provided and searched around a bit and ended up booking the Coventry Motor Inn. for $109/nt. Ultimately the free parking provided there made a difference since most of the other hotels charge $45/nt for parking. The reviews on TripAdvisor are pretty good as well. Thanks for the help with bidding and I will back for any future travel.
