apkesh Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Hi, I am looking for a hotel under $50 bucks in NYC area or Jersey City, walking distance to a train station. I dont' really care about the star level as long as it's somewhat decent (so let's say 2* up). Is this a realistic bid, and what locations should I pick?

thereuare Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Please don't double post...In my opinion your bid amounts are not realistic. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Jasmine Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 If you don't mind taking a bus into the city try staying in Secaucus. For less than $3 you can get into Manhattan in about 25 minutes.I'm not sure what your travel dates are but I paid $55 in April and $58 in July to stay in the area. Prices seem to have gone up since but it never hurts to try a low bid if time is on your side. A bonus to staying in Secaucus over Jersey City is the free hotel parking (if you have a car).
biddingforhotel Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 For $46, you may be able to bid 3* at Newark to get Newark Hilton which is right next to Newark Penn Station with skyway connected. That you can take PATH, $1.5 one way, to NYC, you really can't tell much difference, cost wise, if it is Newark or Jersey City, PATH map shows that only 4 stops ahead of Hyatt Regency at Jersey City, and the ticket is the same cost no matter where you go on PATH.
biddingforhotel Posted October 4, 2005 Report Posted October 4, 2005 What if you don't get it? Try increase to $50 and add Jersey City, still not get it, increase to $55, add Short Hill area ... You got to get one!!! Also, the Hilton Newark is right at the heart of Newark with many skyways interconnected with Gateway buildings and many fast food, nice restaurants, GYM, banks, ...etc. very convenient and safe. I passed by there every day.If you want, you can "walk" over to NJPAC to watch show or concert. NJPAC is relatively new NJ Performing Art Center many people do not know ...
