Hotwire Hotel: Urgent Help needed, trip to NYC 7/19~7/23

Hello,

I'm visiting NYC from 7/19 to 7/23 alone. Hostels in NYC were my options but I wasn't able to locate any in Manhattan, so hotels of 1-2 stars, rated reasonably tidy and conveniently transported in the area of Hoboken of Jersey city would meet my need for no more than $70 per nite.

New in NYC and first timer of PL. Hope to get advice on the bidding and probable hotel names.

The issue with NYC is that quality varies very considerably once you get to the 2.5* level and below - you may get a hotel you are pleased with, but you definitely may get a hotel you are not thrilled with.

Are you looking to stay in Hoboken or in an area that has convenient transit to it?

Unfortunately $70 doesn't go too far in the NYC area and i think you're going to have a tough time finding something that assures you accommodations with easy transport to NYC.

Can't agree more. I checked with Yelp and Booking for the hostels in Manhattan, most of them turn out to be like prison cells.

Indeed, don't think one need bother to book a hotel in NYC through PL or HW with a budget of only $70 per nite. but my budget for this trip to NYC is rather tight and i'll cut loose a little bit to try luck with somewhat good accommodation before I arrive in NYC or just go find the hostels.
