dtmd Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 We are looking into a trip to NYC the 25-28 of July. Would like to stay more centralized (Times Square, Midtown). Have 4 adults - goal is under 200/night.Any thoughts? Its been quite a while since I used priceline - but wanted to know if sleeping arrangements could be accomodated?
AaronJB Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy/1 bed. 2 beds can be requested with the hotel, but the hotel can say no or charge more. The city in the US where there is the highest risk of saying no is New York City - hotel rooms in the city are smaller-than-average (even at the 3.5/4* level, some hotels offer rooms around 150 sq ft) and rooms with quad occupancy/2 beds - when available - often go for a premium. HOTWIRE - where you can indicate 4 people - is a better choice, as if 4 people are indicated, you should get some form of bedding (it may not be two beds - it may be 1 + sofabed or 1 + rollaway.)What zone/s would be acceptable exactly? $200 a night unfortunately isn't going to be realistic for a 4* on HOTWIRE for these date/s w/4 adults - although not hugely far off (HOTWIRE has a 4* in MTE for $232). PRICELINE will be cheaper than HOTWIRE but again, be prepared for 1 bed.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
dtmd Posted July 14, 2013 Author Report Posted July 14, 2013 Thanks so much! I appreciate the feedback.
