thereuare Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Your goal is reasonable, but unfortunately i think at current rates it will take more than a $200 bid price to win a 4* or higher hotel in one of these zones (probably closer to the $250-$275 area).Do you want to start with a $200 bid just to test the waters? Since i think this will be a difficult win at this price should we include all three acceptable zones? I think anything around Midtown or below would be great. I just want nice accommodations to celebrate a birthday. I certainly don't mind starting with $200 to test the waters. I've noticed 4 stars on HOTWIRE are in the $260+ range so I know it will be hard grabbing a great deal. I also didn't know if it was too early to book? With prices so high this far in advance it makes me think there is something going in Manhattan that week.

There are only TWO re-bid zones when bidding 4* in NYC.Give this a try:1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'New York City, NY' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. (since the minimum threshold that you set was 4* and there are no hotels in the LIC at this star rating or higher (since as per above the highest star rating offered is 3.5*)Does that make sense?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
