vjkram Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 I am planning to visit Rome in the middle of September..I guess I am looking to stay in the piazza novona. area since its close to all the attractions..I have never bid in priceline before..how do I go about it? Hotwire prices are quite high..for the same dates..I want to stay under $150 / day for Min 4*... I am guessing this is a reasonable price considering September is not the peak season? Thanks
thereuare Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Rates are date specific... what are the actual dates of your trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Start here: I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire which explains the general differences, and similarities, of the two services. Then let us know any questions that remain and we'll take it from there. You can also try our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com to quickly see hotel rates in the immediate area surrounding any location (you can enter an address or just a city name) and use the filter/sort features to see how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating or to stay closer/further from your ideal location. You can play around with different dates to see which may be less expensive then others. I would suggest try searching within only 1 or 3 miles of your desired address since so many hotels in the area and this will prevent the map from being cluttered with too many hotels (you can then further 'clear' unwanted hotels from the map by UNchecking the lower star rated properties tat you may not be so interested in)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Romelle Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 You might also take a look at HOTWIRE (upper left). Get into it with Rome, Italy and your dates. Then cut down the clutter by selecting just 3* and higher and clicking on the inner city zones. Chose a sort of "low to high". While the Piazza Navona area 4* low was $178, the adjacent areas had some options within your budget. And PRICELINE can be a little less expensive than HOTWIRE. You can add or delete an area just by clicking on the adjacent map. You also can look at the Hotel Lists (now just a click up in the header area) and see what other people have reported getting via both Hotwire and Priceline.Romelle
