thereuare Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 The Tradewinds Apartment Hotel has previously been seen with this amenity set so that would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Lala1206 Posted July 9, 2013 Author Report Posted July 9, 2013 Hmmm... That looks like it could be the one. Only thing is when I tried to look up the price through the hotels booking engine it said it requires a minimum stay of 5 nights, not sure if that means anything. I am going to investigate further, but I might choose this one (and ill click on your HOTWIRE link before I do). Thanks!

Lala1206 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Report Posted October 24, 2013 I am reposting because I realized the space I put in between the amenities didn't show up and it may be hard to read. Also I searched a little and think possibly it could be the Marriot Hollywood beach, the listing price for it on the standard rate hotels is the same price ($299)First hotel is in Hollywood beach area, It is a 4* hotel, 95% of people recommend it, 4 out of 5 from trip advisor. thereuare Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool, and then click the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? For the 4* Hollywood Beach property this is the full list of amenities i'm seeing using the method above:Resort Near Beach Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Spa Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ... if this is what you're currently seeing, my best guess for this one would be the Westin Diplomat. For the 3* Hollywood-South Fort Lauderdale property i'm seeing this amenity set:Free Parking Free Internet Shuttle Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ... unfortunately i don't have a guess or any insight into this one. MAYBE the Holiday Inn Airport or the Courtyard??Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Lala1206 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Report Posted October 24, 2013 Yes, for the first that is the same, except it says golf nearby... the Westin has golf on the property & the Marriot has golf nearby. Hmmm... If I get it I'll let you know. Thanks!

thereuare Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 Please follow-up your previous Hotwire Miami Beach and Hotwire Hollywood Beach threads with whatever you decided to do for each of those stays, then reply to this thread with the dates of this trip and we will have a look at your post(s) above. In your previous thread(s) you were looking at 3* and 4* hotels... are you considering 2* or 1* hotels for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Lala1206 Posted December 17, 2013 Author Report Posted December 17, 2013 Whoops, I thought I did that. The dates are 1/9-1/11, as far as stars go I am more looking for price. When looking today nothing in my price range jumped out at me that was a higher star. I am going to do more looking though. Thanks again, this is a big help.Edit...I just tried looking on the bidding tool and couldn't find it, and now can't see it on the site either. The PRICELINE one is still there, but the HOTWIRE one is not.

Lala1206 Posted December 18, 2013 Author Report Posted December 18, 2013 Well, the 3 & 4* hotels were around the $130's. I'm kicking myself in the butt now for not jumping on that! My trip is coming up soon, so I am definitely going to book a hotel this week. Here is what I am looking for.. I am on a budget, if I can find something great for cheap that would be wonderful. Seeing how expensive the hotels can get at this time of year I set my upper limit at $150/night. I am taking a cruise out of Miami on Jan 11 but flying into Fort Lauderdale on the 9th. I will be traveling with my 5 year old daughter so family friendly is a plus. I would like to be in a place where beach/activities/restauraunts/stores are nearby (yes I know it could be to cold to actually go into the water in January). To answer your question, no I am not looking for a 1*, a 2* maybe if the price/amenities were right and reviews weren't terrible, I just saw similar listings and wondered if they were the same, so scratch the 1* hotel. If you have any ideas for me I am open to them.So I'm seeing 2 hotels in Fort Lauderdale... 3*Free InternetBeachfront hotelFitness CenterPool(s)RestaurantBusiness CenterSelf service laundryInternet accessAccessible for the deaf Accessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityAccessible bathroomHandicapped parkingRoll-in showerI think this one is Ocean Sky Resort, not sure if there are any other hotels that fit this description It's $138Second one is 2* Free ParkingFree BreakfastFree InternetNear BeachSmoke Free RoomsInternet accessGolf NearbyIt is $102/night. I was thinking it is the Sea Club Resort?

Lala1206 Posted December 18, 2013 Author Report Posted December 18, 2013 Sorry, they are both beach area. I'm also open to suggestions if you have any. Thanks!
Romelle Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Have you also been looking at the direct purchase Priceline hotels and the Priceline Express hotels? In thereuare's signature line is a 5% discount offer on the Priceline Express offers. Fort Lauderdale actually has a fairly good public bus system, so you could consider other zones. Downtown is quite nice and interesting. There is a direct run from the airport to the cruise ports, and reasonably direct runs from hotels to the beach areas. And lots of shared shuttle service. There also are fun water shuttle routes. If you are thinking of renting a car, the Extended Stay places (available on Priceline direct purchase) come in at about $100. They offer free breakfast. The lowest total auto rate I see on Priceline for your dates is $67 for the two days ($22 per day). Cabs are of course an option to correct things the buses and shuttles and walking won't.I notice you haven't considering bidding? Although one has the least control over the results, it tends to be the least expensive. All you can pick is zone(s) and star level. Since Fort Lauderdale's major source of income is tourism, they do a good job at moving tourists to/from all the usual tourist destinations - beach, cruise ports, airport.Romelle
Romelle Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Update- when I went to book the hotel the listing was gone :( So sorry, I have no info for you.It is possible the hotel wasn't gone, but rather the 5 night limitation kicked in?Romelle
Lala1206 Posted December 18, 2013 Author Report Posted December 18, 2013 Romelle- Thanks, I didn't know that about the bus system. I should try the bidding, I'll look up how to do that. I found the HOTWIRE easier to navigate, that's why I mainly use that site.
Romelle Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Yes, HOTWIRE is easier to use. Just either take or leave their offers. PRICELINE requires a little more study and strategy. The zones or areas of the two can be different. Different boundaries and different names. If you were to figure out which zones you'd like in PRICELINE, your top budget for bidding, and which star level you'd like - then post that information - one of the moderators would suggest a bidding process for you.I did once bid on what I remember as the Hollywood zone. It was sort of triangularly shaped, with the long leg along the beach. Sure enough, the hotel I got was at the inside angle, as far from the beach as possible. But there really was a public bus that ran straight almost to the ocean. A Best Western that wasn't anything fancy but did serve a very good free breakfast. It worked.Have you found the Hotel Lists yet? They show all hotels members have reported here as getting through either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. There is a link up in the blue banner, and also links at the bottom left on this page. Romelle
Lala1206 Posted December 18, 2013 Author Report Posted December 18, 2013 Do you remember how much it costs to get from the airport to the hotel? I have tried a few bids, nothing has been accepted yet. Now that I know the bus system is decent down there that helps, I can widen the search area. I am open to any area as long as I know it will be easy access to activities. Thanks for all your help!
Romelle Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Click here for a table of shared-shuttle and taxi rates. It never is quite that simple, and likely will cost a bit more, but the table will give you a general idea. And THIS will tell you lots more than you want to know about Broward Country Transit. I assume you have been watching for the "free shuttle" amenity, which means free shuttle from the airport to the hotel and back. These are usually on some kind of schedule, every 1/2 hour or hour, or sometimes they are "on-demand" so you have to book them ahead of time or call from the airport for them to come pick you up.Romelle
