dbohulano Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 I wanted a 3 star hotel in Stockton for two nights. Started with Stockton only, 3 stars, at $50 for two nights (7/12-7/14). Refused, so I left everything the same (i.e. 3 stars only)and started adding each of the cities that only have 2.5 stars or less in that zone (Lathrop, Manteca, Tracy and Turlock). I realized after two failed attempts, I should be bidding for one night only (instead of both nights), so I could have more opportunities to bid. After losing all my bids for 7/12 to 7/13, I backed completely out and started bidding again with new dates of 7/13 to 7/14 only. I kept Stockton, kept the 3 stars only, and added the above listed cities, one bid at a time, starting with adding Manteca. This was successful. And I was also able to add the coupon code (SUMMER) to get another 5% off. It took me 6 bids, incrementing at $3 each time, to get my room.Once they notified me I had a winning bid, I opted to add the second night at the same price. They accepted but they did not include the 5% coupon discount ($3.25) for that second night. The room is listed on Priceline for $109. It includes a free, delicious but simple waiter-style breakfast. We have had all good experiences here over the years.
