jcg2462 Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Can someone help me identify the 3* in Condado for $93 with amenities free internet, smoke free rooms, pool, accessible rooms? My date is one night 4/5/14.
thereuare Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Le Consulat would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. jcg2462 Posted July 7, 2013 Author Report Posted July 7, 2013 That was my guess too. I'm not crazy about the 'boutique' hotels. I'll move over to priceline and ask my next question there. Thanks

jcg2462 Posted July 7, 2013 Author Report Posted July 7, 2013 I need a room one night pre-cruise next April. It looks like priceline has lumped all the zones together but it doesn't matter what area we stay since it's just one night and we will have to rely on taxi anyway. From the research I've done the Radisson seems to win often at the 3.5* option for around $75. I don't want to pay the resort fees for the 4* hotels, so I'm thinking about trying a 3.5* and I know that priceline does sometime 'upgrade' when you bid so getting a 4* is possible. My question is has anyone had experience winning 3.5 hotels other than the Radisson? The reviews on it are mixed. I've got plenty of time so I thought I would start bidding low and just take my time looking for information. Thanks
thereuare Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Yes, other hotels have been seen at the 3.5* level... see the Priceline Hotel List for all the hotels that have been reported to the board at this, and other, star ratings.Note that any hotel in San Juan that has a casino will likely charge a 'resort fee' as it is an extra tax/charge imposed on any hotel that has a casino on-site.What is your current maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jcg2462 Posted July 8, 2013 Author Report Posted July 8, 2013 I was thinking I will start around $75 unless you think I should start lower since I have plenty of time to rebid?
thereuare Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Is $75 your maximum bid right now or where you intend to start and use re-bid zones to bid higher from there? Please clarify and we'll comment accordingly. jcg2462 Posted July 8, 2013 Author Report Posted July 8, 2013 I will start at $75 for a 3.5* and then wait a few day to rebid the same area and increase the bid a few dollars each time. Can I do that?
thereuare Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 You can bid more than one every 24 hours using re-bid zones, as described here: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained (NOTE: if you're new to the concept it's highly recommended you ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones before proceeding)When bidding 3* in San Juan you have THREE such re-bid zones, are you able to determine which ones they are? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jcg2462 Posted July 8, 2013 Author Report Posted July 8, 2013 I have bid on priceline before. I only want the San Juan zone and only 3.5* or higher, so I will not add a zone and rebid, therefore the reason I plan to bid only once per day or so. I will begin at $75 increase my bid slowly since I have many weeks to bid. If I have no luck for a while I will start over in a couple months.
thereuare Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 I only want the San Juan zone and only 3.5* or higher, so I will not add a zone and rebid...Do you understand that re-bidding, as described in the Priceline Re-Bidding Explained thread, is adding a zone that you couldn't possibly win because it only contains hotels that are lower rated then the minimum star rating you have selected for your bid.For example:ZoneA: highest star rating is 4*ZoneB: highest star rating is 2*If you bid for a 3.5* hotel and select ZoneA and ZoneB, do you see how if you are success the hotel would have to be in ZoneA? (since ZoneB does not have any hotels that are rated 3.5* or higher, the minimum threshold you set for this bid)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
