thereuare Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process. Please try the following:use this link to search HOTWIREfrom the search results page click the offer for this hotelon the next page click BOOK NOW (no worries about purchasing by accident since no credit card information is entered up to this point)on the left side of the page click the 'See all amenities' linkIf you follow the above, do you now see this complete set of amenities for this offer:Pet Friendly Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower If you see this complete set of amenities when using the method above, my best guess for this property would be the InterContinental Times Square. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.PS- please also follow-up your previous Hotwire NYC Hotel thread from last year with whatever you ultimately decide to do for that trip. thereuare Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Can you please add another reply to your New York City Hotel thread with indicating if you bought the Desmond Tutu from PRICELINE, HOTWIRE, or a direct/non-opaque purchase?Let us know whatever you decide to do for the trip above or how we can be of further help. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. gogators Posted July 6, 2013 Author Report Posted July 6, 2013 The price is $303.00 today, not bad for the Intercontinental for 3 people. The only problem is 3 people sharing 2 double beds sounds cramped. Where can I get a room with possibly 2 beds and a pull-out at a good price? Thanks in advance...
AaronJB Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 The issue with NYC is that rooms are almost all smaller-than-average, with rooms at 160-180 sq ft not uncommon, even at the 3.5-4* levels. Few hotels offer rooms with 2 beds + sofabed and in those cases, those rooms are a paid upgrade, which PRICELINE/HOTWIRE reservations are not eligible for. The Doubletree Guest Suites is an example of a hotel that offers this room option, as does the Murray Hill East Suites. Are you three adults or 2 adults/1 child? Expedia coupon code EXP15B takes 15% off quite a few hotels, but I believe that coupon may expire on 7/7 (and not sure when on 7/7.)Please use the site's Support Page links to start your purchases and searches if you book regular rate.Thank you for using the board's Expedia, HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Where can I get a room with possibly 2 beds and a pull-out at a good price? Two beds and a pullout sofabed is not going to be that common in NYC... and certainly not something that you can ensure with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Have you considered bidding on two rooms? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 The Murray Hill East suites are showing a 1BR with one or two beds and one sofabed for $265 for these dates and EXP15B takes 15% off, although that is supposed to expire today. As noted, 2 beds + sofabed is rare in NYC and when available, it's often going to be a very costly upgrade. Please use the site's Expedia link to start your purchases and searches.
gogators Posted July 10, 2013 Author Report Posted July 10, 2013 Yes, I am now considering two rooms. There was a 5 star Central Park East on HOTWIRE last week for around $250.00 that I figured to be the Carlyle, but it hasn't popped up again. We booked two rooms at The Jade as back-up.
AaronJB Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 What would be your desired budget per room/per night? What is your rate at The Jade? (per room per nite)Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
gogators Posted July 10, 2013 Author Report Posted July 10, 2013 We booked two rooms at The Jade for $289.00 each plus tax. We all really like the Chelsea, Greenwich Village area. That price is about our target (would be nice to have it cheaper though;).
thereuare Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 There are plenty of options at less then $289/nite...HOTWIRE has what i believe to be:Flatiron Hotel in Chelsea for $189/niteAffinia Shelburne for $194/niteSofitel for $256/niteMichelangelo Hotel for $274/niteAre any of these of interest? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. gogators Posted July 13, 2013 Author Report Posted July 13, 2013 Actually, yes they do. The Flatiron Hotel looks fun, but possibly loud and the Sofitel looks beautiful, but not in the area we want. In the end, my two friends decided to keep the reservation at The Jade. Thank you for all of your help!
AaronJB Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 Thank you for closing the thread.Enjoy your stay.
