AaronJB Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 I'd guess the Sax, Palomar or Felix - I'd lean towards the Sax, but any of the three would be possible.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
luckystreetspirit Posted July 4, 2013 Author Report Posted July 4, 2013 Thank you Sax it was!! I figured so, would you say its a good hotel? Any food recommendations in the area you would recommend or pubs (not too pricey)Your amazing for getting back so fast!
AaronJB Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice deal for this property, which used to be the House of Blues Hotel (the HOB is still next door.) This is a great location as well, right next to the river and right by the nightlife and restaurant-heavy River North area. For drinks nearby, two classic spots are Clark St Ale House (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/clark-street-ale-house-chicago?select=AcJs7G9efwszUCAptvWTBQ#sCoT9b6QGvkUcTbE0bXetw) and Green Door (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/green-door-tavern-chicago?select=Vy5VnooVT9rViT506-SAqg#Vy5VnooVT9rViT506-SAqg), the latter being a particularly historic property. Bin 36 next to your hotel isn't the best place for eats, but it's a nice wine bar (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bin-36-chicago?select=RmjWgFRwBuRyeMyrWvGwKw#RmjWgFRwBuRyeMyrWvGwKw)There's a LOT of food options in the area - what are you looking for in terms of style, etc? Additionally, please confirm the price per night (in USD$) before taxes/fees so that we can update the site's Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
luckystreetspirit Posted July 4, 2013 Author Report Posted July 4, 2013 The pubs you listed are perfect just took a peek at the Clark Ste Ale house & Green Door and its exactly and what we are into. I guess for food options looking for dinner whether it be italian food, gastro pub or steak house with a nice atmosphere (dim lit, cool decor, good music in the background or lay back vibe) (however have notice steak houses are quite pricey) so may opt out the last one.Is the food at Green Door decent? Ok I promise these are my last questions. I'm already happy that I got a nice hotel and you suggested two pubs that I probably never would have found on my own. Thanks Again :)

AaronJB Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Personally, I recommend La Madia for Italian (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-madia-chicago?select=d5sVf_fsy8iSR92Tl0YtQA#eYXDEeV88GDtoiU-cZ1RFg), which is not that far from your hotel.Doughnut Hut is really not that far from your hotel (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-doughnut-vault-chicago?select=nsHuZG8bVTszss4LgLLWSA#A1V6uJJZRHXlchiGGzEvtQ), although the issue with DV is that it is cash only and two, they sell 'till they're sold out. There may also be lines. Xoco is a good breakfast/lunch/dinner option right nearby (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/xoco-chicago?select=t2qWpckKA4Bnt6JfcmngaA#t2qWpckKA4Bnt6JfcmngaA). In terms of steak, Keefer's is right by your hotel (http://www.yelp.com/biz/keefers-restaurant-chicago). Wildfire (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/wildfire-chicago?selected=65sjjstzjaJ1cvTRBVxegQ#65sjjstzjaJ1cvTRBVxegQ) is part of the local Lettuce Entertain You chain of various boutique restaurants and is a more reasonable (in comparison) option for steak and potatoes. Gene and Georgetti is an old world steakhouse option (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/gene-and-georgetti-chicago-2?select=m137jf1E4bKK1AgtD1F7BA#m137jf1E4bKK1AgtD1F7BA) and Kinzie Chop House is another nearby steak place (http://www.yelp.com/biz/kinzie-chop-house-chicago).Enjoy your stay, and let us know if you have any other city questions.
