djrobsd Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 Have been trying for almost a week to get Hollywood since we're going to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl on July 4th.. I bid up to $150 last night and was rejected, so tonight I went ahead and re-bid West Hollywood/Beverly Hills @ $110 a night and got the Chamberlain (using the PRICELINE link on this site).Overall, not a bad deal for a holiday if you ask me, it is a $20 dollar cab ride to the bowl from there, would have preferred something closer, but at least we can walk to all the fun in WeHo.Looks like it was $159 on Hotels.com for the same hotel, so we saved $49/night, not too shabby... Could I have gone lower when I added the additional area to my search?Any tips on parking? Looks like it's $36 bucks to park at the hotel.
thereuare Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you're pleased with the deal you received and although not in your first choice of location, can make this work for your needs for a net savings (even with the cab ride). Not sure how much lower this would have gone for, but 'yes', you can always start lower if you choose when you add a 'live' zone. Feel free to ask for help and/or confirm your bidding strategy before your next opaque purchase.I'm not local to the area so i don't have any advice on parking other than you can usually get cheaper parking at private garages separate from the hotel, maybe somebody local to the area will have a suggestion. Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding. Enjoy your stay. djrobsd Posted July 6, 2013 Author Report Posted July 6, 2013 Thanks, we had a great time. Glad we stayed in West Hollywood and not Hollywood. We were able to walk to all the fun gay stuff in the area, and the cab ride to the concert was only $16 bucks (Uber!!). Others at the hotel were shocked at the rate we got, they paid much more, including someone who got their Room on the hotel tonight app. The roof top balcony/pool is pretty nice with some beautiful views. The hotel is pretty decent, the furnishings in the room were a bit dated but overall it was a pretty nice experience. My only gripe, as is the case with most boutique hotels is no ice maker on any of the floors so you have to go down to the front desk and ask for ice.
