Priceline Hotel: Looking for Boston 8/5-8-8 (mon-thurs)

Looking for a bidding strategy for a 3.5* -4.5 star in Copley Square - Back Bay or Boston Common - Theater District areas :)

This board has been helpful in the past. Looking to spend less than $100 per night seeing as they are weekdays only. I have gotten downtown chicago hotels at $65-$80 before during the week using priceline so would like to start bidding at $70 if not less! Thanks mods!

Rates vary significantly from day-to-day and from city-to-city. Unfortunately, Boston rates look on the high side for these dates, and I think you're probably looking at more in the mid $100 range ($145-165, depending - and possibly a tad higher) for Boston for these dates.

Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable property in one of these zones?

The best rate is on the 5* Langham, which is showing at $228 per night, much less than other 3,4,5 stars. The average looks to be around $250 though, which is insane considering its a Monday through Thursday booking. Never seen anything this high during the week anywhere.

Which at current prices doesn't make your $100 target maximum bid seem likely/realistic.

For the size of the city, Boston does not have a lot of hotel rooms, and even a small change in demand can have a big effect on hotel rates.

On request... That means they will get back to me in 72 hours? Sounds shady. Im thinking I can get a similar deal on PRICELINE without the 72 hour waiting period.

It's not unusual from lastminutetravel, especially during busy periods. They need to call and see if they can get any additional inventory at that rate. Often (especially for busier days) it's a no, but sometimes they are. Rates are higher for these dates though, so unfortunately I think either service is going to require a higher-than-normal rate. Booked on lastminutetravel, got the Marriott Copley for $147/nt, rooms on marriott website were listed at $299/nt. Unbeatable deal. It was listed on the site as 3.5* Back Bay hotel 11 miles from airport. A+ would use that site again. :) :) :)
