cmarz Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 HiLooking at the 5* Hotel listings on the board this property should be the Intercontinental, but not sure. It's listed for $168 7/2 -7/5 under 5* Boston Harbor Front - AquariumOnly items listed are Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Restaurant, Business and Fitness Center If anybody could confirm this or give me other ideas, I'd appreciate it.I am traveling with my husband and 18 yr old son and am having a hard time narrowing it down. Also does anybody know if double beds are large and comfortable enough for 2 average sized adults? Seems like most hotels offer either 1 king or 2 doubles. Many thanks from this newbie!
yellowdog Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding :) Before we move on.Note that PRICELINE and PRICELINE EXPRESS only guarantees double occupancy, which means you may receive a room with only one bed and the hotel could assign you a room with only one bed. You could request a room with two beds, but the hotel could be unable, or unwilling, to accommodate your request... or charge an additional fee if they are willing to accommodate you request. Is this a risk you're willing to take?HOTWIRE guarantees sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search... this often means two beds in the room, but the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc.Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog.
cmarz Posted June 29, 2013 Author Report Posted June 29, 2013 Thank you Yellowdog for the replyGiven being a newbie I had not considered the hotwire guarantee.I think it would make more sense to look there to guarantee the trip will be a successand everybody will be comfortable as it is for hubby's b-day.
AaronJB Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 Please keep us updated and if you do see a listing on HOTWIRE of interest, please let us know the entire details of the listing (date/s of travel, full list of amenities, price per night, zone and star rating.)Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
cmarz Posted June 29, 2013 Author Report Posted June 29, 2013 This what I am looking at on Hotwire - $168/ night 7/2 - 7/53-star Hotel in Quincy Market - Financial DistrictThis Hotel features the following amenities:Free Internet Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Any ideas??
yellowdog Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Do you also see Accessible bathroom listed? If yes, best guess would be Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill Please remember to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board and let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help with this stay.YellowdogPS. please remember to follow-up this thread with whatever you end up doing for this trip, even if you don't use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc.
AaronJB Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 I'll also suggest the 4* Onyx Hotel (a Kimpton boutique) on Expedia for a last-minute deal on sale for $194.25. Coupon code EXP15B also takes 15% off = $165 and change. That can also be cancelled (although check the fine print) and would offer a free wine reception + 2 beds. It is not far from the potential Wyndham. Please use the site's Expedia link to start your purchases and searches.
puppy555 Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Hi Cmarz, I am also looking for a hotel in Boston. Most Boston hotels have two double beds in a room rather than two queens. That is so that they can squeeze more rooms in the hotels and make more money. A double bed is very small for two people. My husband and I have shared one and there is not much room to move around. A few of the hotels do offer two queens instead. But the reason I am writing is to let you know that if you book through PRICELINE, they will NOT guarantee that you will get a room with two doubles or even two beds for that matter. They ONLY guarantee double occupancy. If you book through Priceline, you risk arriving at the hotel to check in and finding out that the three of you will have to share one king bed. If you get lucky, they might be able to fit a rollaway cot into the room, but not all hotels offer rollaways and some charge for it. So the bottom line is that if you need to have a room with two beds, you may not want to use Priceline this time around. Save it for when you are just traveling with your husband. Or if you want to use PRICELINE, be on the safe side and get two rooms if that is an option. At least your son will have his own bed. I am in the same boat, as I am planning a trip with my two kids. I called one of the hotels I was targeting in Cambridge to ask if I book through PRICELINE, can I then call them and request a room with two doubles. They said that I could ONLY make that request at check-in, and NOT when I book the room (or right afterwards). He said the only way to be sure I would get two beds would be to book through the hotel directly. I have two kids and the last thing I want to do is get there and find out there is no place in the room for my kids to sleep. I just wanted to alert you to this in case you are not aware about it so that there are no surprises when you check in. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.
puppy555 Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 P.S. to my other reply to you...The Westin Boston Waterfront is having a deal where if you go on a weekend (may also apply to holidays), and book 2 nights, you get the 3rd night free. That brings the rate down to about $175 for the days I looked at. It's at the Westin website for this property under OFFERS.
thereuare Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 The OP's dates are not over a weekend, but there is a Westni promo for 25% OFF a 3 nite stay which shows the cost as $191/nite (although i didn't search for triple occupancy, you can double check the Westin website for your dates and actual occupancy. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (or the links in our Support Page if you book direct) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
