Hi everyone,

I used the links here to search HOTWIRE for an upcoming trip to Chicago from 8/8-8/13. I found a hotel listed for $111 a night in the downtown/Millennium/Grant Park area. The amenities include the following:

Smoke Free Rooms Guest

Fitness Center

Restaurant(s)

Business Center

Laundry Facilities (self-service)

High-Speed Internet Access

Spa Services

Accessible path of travel

In-room accessibility

A second option would be - 4* Magnificent Mile North - Water Tower area for $115 a night. Amenities include:

Smoke Free Rooms Guest

Fitness Center

Restaurant(s)

Business Center

High-Speed Internet Access

Accessible for the blind

Accessible for the deaf

Accessible path of travel

In-room accessibility

Any ideas on both of these?

Thanks

HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process.

Please try the following:

use this link to search HOTWIRE

from the search results page click the offer for this hotel

on the next page click BOOK NOW (no worries about purchasing by accident since no credit card information is entered up to this point)

on the left side of the page click the 'See all amenities' link, then reply with any additional amenities seen beyond what you have noted above - thanks.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Glad you were able to get the hotel you were looking for. There are a number of breakfast options within decent walking distance, some particularly close. The trio that come to mind would be Wildberry (newer and very popular - http://www.yelp.com/biz/wildberry-cafe-chicago), the Pittsfield Cafe (an old-school Chicago diner in the Pittsfield building - cash only http://www.yelp.com/biz/pittsfield-cafe-chicago) or the Rick Bayless casual offering Xoco (http://www.yelp.com/biz/xoco-chicago).

If you are looking for a breakfast treat, somewhat of a trek W/NW is the Doughnut Vault (http://thedoughnutvault.tumblr.com/), but that is cash only and they sell until they run out.

Enjoy your stay and let us know if you have any city questions.

Thanks Arron for the suggestions,

I will check these places out, they look good!

We are in chicago for 4 full days - we are thinking of doing a day trip out of chicago for one day. Do you have any suggestions? My friend suggested Milwaukee but I have taken a look and did not seem loads to do and I looked at Indianapolis but the transport links do not look great, the amtrak train takes longer time than the bus.

We are flying in from Bermuda so no car unfortunately.

The problem with Chicago is that there's not many day trip options, and fewer if you don't have a car. Lake Geneva is a very pretty resort town not that far over the border of Wisconsin and there's a couple of terrific outlet malls between Chicago and there, but there's no bus/train. Milwaukee and Indianapolis are fine, but I think it's just a lot of time and effort and cost for a day trip. The Wisconsin Dells is a great deal of fun, but that's more of a couple of day trip.

Closer to Chicago, there's the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Ravinia Music Festival in the North burbs, as well as Evanston. Evanston is the first town North of the border and has a variety of shops and restaurants.

However, if you just wanted to stay downtown, there's enough to fill five days; you could spend a day in the North side of the city (Lakeview, Lincoln Park), trying restaurants and going to the Zoo and Old Town neighborhood.
