tnanny Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 Good evening, I've been reading the threads and I'm too afraid to bid for fear I will over bid. I would like to find a good Hotel with at least 3 star rating ( I usually look for 4 *, but none are on the lists). I want to stay in Destin, but would settle for Panama City, Fl. My travel dates are August 16-18, 2013. We are just trying to take our 4 and 2 year old for a quick getaway the weekend before school starts, so I don't want to spend a lot. I would really like to get in under $120 but too afraid of the fact that I may not get booked into something nice. 4 people in my party including 2 toddlers. I considered Marriot @ $143 per night through their website, but wanted to come back here in hopes someone would respond, Please lend me some advice in this, thank you kindly
thereuare Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!4 people in my party including 2 toddlers.PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. While the risk in the zones you're looking to bid may be less then in a large city such as NYC where rooms are notoriously smaller then most other locations and hotels have a low percentage of rooms with two beds, it is still a risk you need to be aware of and accept if you're going to move forward with PRICELINE. If this is not a risk you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)I want to stay in Destin, but would settle for Panama City, Fl.Are you willing to pay more to stay in Destin vs. Panama City OR is your goal the least expensive 3* hotel in either zone?Let us know your thoughts on the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tnanny Posted June 27, 2013 Author Report Posted June 27, 2013 No, I am not willing to pay more for one vs the other. I would like to stay as far under 120 per night as possible without getting a rift raft room  Thanks to all of you for reaching out, I appreciate it tremendously!
tnanny Posted June 28, 2013 Author Report Posted June 28, 2013 I don't know if this is considered a "Win" per se. As I did not use name you own price. But I did get booked @ Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, 9300 Emerald Coast Pkwy West, Destin, FL. After paying and having the Hotel name revealed I went in and read mixed reviews, mostly disappointing. I used Hotwire and added travel insurance and my total was $255.00. I will do a follow up once we return home. I'm sure I missed some required info, let me know what I didn't address and I will do so promptly.
