swapsafari Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 Hey Folks,I am back to better bidding again in other words I am up for a vacation. Looking to book a 3/4/5 star room for 4 nights in Cancun, dates 9/11/13-9/15/13. I just wanted to know if there is anyway I can be sure that I get a ocean view room through price line bidding or hot-wire. I know the lower price deals are not always the best rooms on the property but wanted to check with folks who have booked the rooms in Cancun in the past and what have they have after reaching there. Did anyone get lucky to have a ocean view room? Will it work if I book a room through HOTWIRE / PRICELINE for now and try to pay extra to get a oceanview room when I get there? Any advice would be helpful. Here is whats showing for my dates if you guys can identify the property:4-Star South Hotel Zone area hotelResort Free Parking Pet friendly Beachfront Property Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s)Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Children's Activity Program Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Roll-in shower 4-star Hotel in Hotel Zone - Convention CenterResort Free ParkingFitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s)Business CenterGolf NearbyChildren's Activity Program Wheelchair accessible
thereuare Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 PRICELINE and HOTWIRE rooms are for standard rooms... some get 'lucky' and get an upgraded room just for asking (or just by chance without even asking), some are able to pay for an upgrade, and some hotels won't allow any upgrades even for an additional fee. So many variables are involved with room assignments (occupancy levels nites of your stay, occupancy levels the nite before your arrival, what has been cleaned and available at the time you check-in, hotel policy, mood of the front desk clerk, etc, etc) that regardless of somebody elses experience your ability to get an upgrade (or not) may be very different. Are you only willing to accept an oceanview room, or is a 'standard' room acceptable and you'll take your chances on the ability to upgrade? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. swapsafari Posted June 28, 2013 Author Report Posted June 28, 2013 Thanks Admin. I guess I will go ahead and book a standard room as there is a big price difference. May be I will get lucky with a oceanview room. I just booked my flights yesterday so now I am certain about the travel dates i.e. 09/13/13 - 09/18/13, its a 5 nights stay in total. Any idea on what the hotels might be?
thereuare Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Are the hotels above still the ones that are appearing for your now confirmed dates? What is the room rate of each? Are you looking to know the amenities and have a guess as to the hotel before your purchase (in which case HOTWIRE would likely be the best option) or is the lowest price the most important factor (which might make PRICELINE a better bet)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly.
