yyzging Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 We are three women staying for 4 nights, arriving July 18 and checking out July 22. My favorite neighbourhood is the LES, but it seems I can't be that specific with hotwire. Our budget is max $300 per night, taxes in, but I would prefer to spend far less. I would be happy with a 3 star that includes breakfast, but would consider a great deal on a 4 star. Any suggestions for strategies? Are there 4 stars in LES? Should I consider more areas? We are tourists and like to walk, and I don't want to get stuck in the financial district.
yyzging Posted June 24, 2013 Author Report Posted June 24, 2013 This looks good. Would be great to ID:4 Star in Downtown - SoHo - Financial District area hotelRate is $196 a night. thereuare Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 Best guess for this property would be the Millenium Hilton. However, you mention that you don't want to end up in the Financial District so i would avoid this zone just in case you should win a property you didn't expect. Not sure of your needs but probably one of the better values based upon star rating/price/reviews would be the 4.5* hotel in the MTE zone for $220/nite:Pet Friendly Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible ... this property also has an impressive 4.5/5.0 TA rating. Best guess for this one would be the Omni Berkshire. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. yyzging Posted June 25, 2013 Author Report Posted June 25, 2013 Thanks. The thing I like about 4+ hotels are their spas/pools. This seems rare in NYC, so I would be just as happy with a really clean 3 star. Any tips about how close to the date I should wait for the best rates? Will use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to book.
thereuare Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 The thing I like about 4+ hotels are their spas/pools. This seems rare in NYC...Very few NYC hotels have pools... although the Millennium Hilton, guessed above for the HOTWIRE hotel you listed, is one that does.... I would be just as happy with a really clean 3 star. Looking at the current HOTWIRE offers for your dates when searching for 3 adults i still think the 4.5* MTE property is your best bet. You can save $30/nite (that's only $10 per person) for a lower rated hotel with mediocre reviews... the $10/nite is well spent, imo.Any tips about how close to the date I should wait for the best rates?Nobody can say if rates will come down between now and your trip... it's possible that they move higher from here. See the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ for more on this subject. Do note that the searching for more than double occupancy in NYC often limits your choices, so i wouldn't necessarily wait until the last minute, if you see what you think is a good deal you should act upon it.Let us know when/how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. yyzging Posted June 25, 2013 Author Report Posted June 25, 2013 Great advise. Thanks so much. Browsing the posts, I see that 3 stars vary widely in quality.I've consulted with a friend who assures me that Wall Street is very convenient for the areas I like : Les, soho, TriBeCa, etc. So the hilton millennium is back in the running. Will post our results.

yellowdog Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 My guess would be that this is a new amenity set for the Tribecca Grand Hotel. Please remember to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board and let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help with this stay.Yellowdog.PS.
