Ernieg Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 We will be staying in Rome July 21 -24 following a Med Cruise for 3 nights. We need 3 rooms for a total of 5 people in the Spanish Steps/Trevi Fountain zone. We have a reservation that can be cancelled at White Hotel, which is a 4* and was recommended by friends. I bid domestic travel on PRICELINE frequently, but never International. Have heard there are some less than desirable areas near the zone we are looking to bis in.Any help or direction regarding bidding strategy is appreciated. Have a $10 coupon per night up to $50 and will used the BB link.
thereuare Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 I bid domestic travel on PRICELINE frequently...Assuming you have made a few purchases in the last 3 years since joining the board it would be appreciated if you started to share your wins so that others can benefit from the information, just as you are now looking to benefit from those who have posted before you. What is the rate at your back-up property? What is your maximum bid (bid + coupon money) for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! (please click each of these previous links before replying)Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Ernieg Posted June 24, 2013 Author Report Posted June 24, 2013 thereuare:You are correct. I have bid on PRICELINE and should have reported/posted those wins on this Board. I will also start bidding all of my offers through this Board, starting with the most recent (for Rome, pre-cruise in the FCO zone). Ended up bidding in the airport zone for pre-cruise and won the Mercure Hotel West Roma, which doesn't show up on PRICELINE anywhere. Looks good, but is at the very edge of the airport zone. Opposite direction from cruise port. Just a little father that we were hoping for. But it is only for 1 night. The Price of our backup hotel (which was recommended by a friend) is located in the Spanish Step area and is $235 US plus tax, which includes breakfast. I was hoping to get my bid for no more than $150.00 per night with fees, including the $10.00 per coupon, which is only up to $50.00. I have 2 of these coupons remaining and am bidding for 3 rooms, 3 nights but am afraid if I place 2 separate bids we may get at 2 different hotels and do not want that. What would your suggestions be? It may be unrealistic for me to think that we can do better. And, thank you so much for all you do.
thereuare Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Ended up bidding in the airport zone for pre-cruise and won the Mercure Hotel West Roma...Can you please add your win to the board as a NEW TOPIC so that others will be aware of your win when searching the topic titles on the board and in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and Priceline Maps.In your post please include the star rating, city, zone, hotel name, room rate per nite, and dates of your stay... you can still view all of this information by going to PRICELINE and clicking the MY PROFILE >> MY TRIPS link near the top right of their home page.I was hoping to get my bid for no more than $150.00...I assume you're trying for a 4* hotel in the Spanish Steps-Trevi Fountain zone? If so, $150 all-in i think may be a bit optimistic. To give it a try, when bidding 4* in Rome you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Spanish Steps - Trevi Fountain...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Spanish Steps - Trevi Fountain and re-bid zone2...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Spanish Steps - Trevi Fountain and re-bid zone3...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Spanish Steps - Trevi Fountain and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $135Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
