apicha3 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 I need some advice on bidding, I will be in the Seattle area September 18 to the 21st. I have constantly been bidding for a 4* in that area using the average price of wins for that type of hotel and I have not been successful. My question is do you guys think I am bidding to far in advanced ? I am guessing hotels have high prices because the demand is low this point in time. thanks
yellowdog Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 How high have you bid and what is you max budget/night before tax/fee's?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog.
apicha3 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 Seeing various wins I have based my lowest bids from $80 to over $130 per night before taxes and fees.
more88 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 I Guess you are experiencing the same as I do. I am bidding literally for months now on hotel in Pike Place for September 28 to the 30th and a hotel in Pike place or Bellevue for September 26th. Went up to $160 for a 4* and $180 for a 4,5* (do they even exist?). I never had that much trouble to make a reservation on Priceline.A 4* on Hotwire is about $150- $160 so normally is $130 - $140 (my personal rule of the thumb) enough to make a reservation on Priceline. Not in Seattle… I’ve decided to wait.
apicha3 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 I have been trying for the past 2 months now !! I get puzzled when I see that someone got a 4* for $85 !!!!
AaronJB Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Rates can vary significantly from day-to-day - unfortunately, these particular date/s are very busy (convention, perhaps?)Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Rates are not that high for these dates... i think it may just be a bit early.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if we can be of further help along the way. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
more88 Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 I have been trying for the past 2 months now !! I get puzzled when I see that someone got a 4* for $85 !!!!I know. It looks like that PRICELINE doesn't have any inventory on mine (and I suppose your) dates. The last few months i saw on HOTWIRE the Hyatt on Olive 8, The Renaissance and the Sheraton (or at least hotels with the same amenities) all for about $150 - $160. The only hotel that I saw on Priceline Express was a $182 4* hotel (probably the Renaissance) and even that one is gone now. Although the inventories of PRICELINE and PRICELINE EXPRESS are not the same, it is at least an indication. I think that thereuare is right, it is still early.
